The Liquid Level Indicating System allows the level in the stabilizer tank to be determined accurately under any operating conditions and compared to the operating instructions. The standard sounding tubes and level indicators are generally accurate only when the ship in in port on an even keel. These devices cannot be used when the ship is rolling in a seaway and the water in the stabilizer is sloshing violently. The control unit of the system is generally console or rack mounted on the bridge or some other area where a view of the sea in available. The instantaneous levels in the port and starboard wings of the tanks are measured continuously by pressure transducers and a long term average is developed and displayed in both digital and bar graph format. In addition, the roll period of the ship is determined and displayed digitally by taking a long term average of the zero crossings recorded by an inclinometer. A copy of the Operating Instructions showing the level to be used for each roll period in bar graph format is photo engraved on the front panel of the control unit. This permits a quick and effective check of the operating state of the stabilizer at all times.
An Airgap of 2.10Mtrs has been designed between the accommodation and the helideck to secure absolute comfort and silence for crew and passengers. This has never been done before on Accommodation Barges.
