Computer and Communication! Many people use the computer to communicate, instead of talking face to face.

Some people are in favor of using email and instant messaging to communicate instead of talking in person. For example, people rely on email and instant messaging, especially those who are shy! Other people, however, prefer to communicate face to face. They believe that it does not good to communicate only on computers because it is important to have human interaction. Have computers made us better communicators? Starting with the positives, computers let you communicate faster. That makes communicating easier and more convenient! Email and instant messaging are two methods to communicate by computer that are more convenient and faster than talking face to face. Secondly, people can think about what they want to say before they send it! Particularly when it comes to someones feelings, the computer makes it harder to make a mistake and that is definitely a good thing. So people, think before sending. This can prevent hurt feelings! Another positive is that, shy people can feel more comfortable while talking. Usually, people who are afraid to talk often dont have a social life, but, on the computer, they can get over their nerves and talk. All in all, the computer can gradually help shy people overcome their nerves and push them to talk to people over time. A negative to using computers to communicate is sometimes people get the wrong understanding of the message. People never know if the person on the other side is being sarcastic or just being mean. In brief, computers can make communicating more difficult because messages can be misunderstood and even hurt someones feelings. Another negative is that people lack face to face skills. When people are behind a computer, they might say something they will not usually say in front of a person. To conclude, computers

do not always help people develop skills necessary to talk to people face to face. Yet another negative about communicating on computers, someone will not always have the luxury of the internet. Sometimes, people do not have an internet connection and will not be able to communicate at all (except in person). So, people cannot always rely on the computers to communicate because they might not get an internet connection. I believe, on balance, that the drawbacks of communicating on a computer outweigh the benefits of communicating on a computer. People may not always have access to computers, and too much reliance on computers to communicate will cause people to lose the necessary skills to communicate face to face. Therefore, people can communicate better without computers.
