INTRODUCTION : MOTOR PROTECTION CIRCUIT BREAKER

TYPE MG1 / MG2

Motor Protection Circuit Breakers (MPCBs) provide comprehensive protection and control of low tension motors. MPCBs combine the function of a switch, a short circuit protective device and an overload relay. Designed to international standards, their compact size offers multiple advantages in installation and operation. These MPCBs are also provided with a large number of accessories for various applications.

The design features offer a range of advantages : Compact size saves panel space. Higher making & breaking capacity Ambient temperature compensation eliminates need for constant current-setting re-adjustment. Double slide mechanism ensures faster tripping during single phasing in the circuit. Technical data of circuit breaker can be read easily when circuit breaker is in mounted position. Unambiguous front ON/OFF indication. Similar design concept for both circuit breakers facilitates handling. Identical accessories reduce stock levels. In-built DIN rail mounting facility makes it suitable for snap fit mounting on 35mm section rail.

APPLICATIONS

STAND-ALONE MOTOR PROTECTION

Highly compact and technically superior MG1 and MG2 can be used for electrical control and protection solutions. They can be used for switching, control and protection of motor in machine with single motor and not requiring remote switching. MPCBs can be used in machine incorporating multiple motors as incomers as well as for protection and control of individual motor.

ENHANCED SYSTEM LIFE

In order to have a compact MCC, a fuseless motor protection solution can be offered using MG1 and MG2 MPCB in conjunction with MNX contactors. A contactor in conjunction with an MPCB enhances system life, provides facility for remote switching of motor and gives undervoltage protection with additional under voltage release.

PLANT PROTECTION
MG1 and MG2 can be used for plant protection. MG1 has a setting upto 25A & MG2 upto 63A for plant protection.

DC SWITCHING
The MPCBs Type MG1 & MG2 are also suitable for DC switching.

FUSE MONITORING
Operation of fuse can be monitored with MG-F1 (Refer Sketch). When the fuse blows, the current flows through the breaker, causing tripping. Voltages available AC : 24V to 690V 50/60 Hz

11

DC : 24V to 250V For DC voltage greater than 250V & up to 600V, the 3 conducting paths of the breaker must be connected in series.
