Loading a Basic CV on the CBU

This describes the recommended procedure for loading a basic CV on a CBU. Formatting the CBU Hard Drive The hard drive of the CBU is partitioned and must be formatted before loading the software package. The hard drive is divided into a c2 and a d partition in backup mode. 1. Restart the RBS in backup mode, using the following command in HyperTerminal: reload -The RBS replies with the following information: OSE Delta PowerPC krn-750/R2.1.2 Welcome to OSE Shell OSE4.3.

2. Format the hard drive partition c2, using the following command:
formathd /c2 The RBS replies with the following information: All data on volume will be destroyed. Continue? y/n (n): Type y. The RBS replies with the following information: Formatting Hard Disc-OK !! RESTART system to initialize disc !!

3. Format the hard drive partition d, using the following command:


formathd /d The RBS replies with the following information: All data on volume will be destroyed. Continue? y/n (n): Type y. The RBS replies with the following information: Formatting Hard Disc-OK !! RESTART system to initialize disc !! 4. Restart the RBS in backup mode, using the following command:

reload -Setting an RBS Password A password must be set after formatting the hard drive of the CBU to use the FTP software. 1. Set the password, using the following command in HyperTerminal: passwd The RBS replies with the following information: Enter new password: 2. Enter the new password: <RBS specific password> The RBS replies with the following information: Re-enter new password: 3. Confirm the new password: <RBS specific password>

Setting an IP Configuration The Internet Protocol (IP) configuration is necessary for the FTP program and the RBS Element Manager (EM). The configuration in the RBS is set in HyperTerminal through a serial connection. 1. Set the IP configuration, using the

command: Example: ifconfig le0 169.254.1.1 netmask 255.255.0.0 Replace IP address and netmask with the addresses of the RBS node. 2. Check the IP configuration using the

ifconfig
command: ifconfig

Checking the IP Configuration and RBS Connection This section describes how to check that the RBS is reachable through the Ethernet interface. Check the IP connection to the RBS, using the

ping
command in an MS-DOS window on the TC: Example: ping 169.254.1.1 Replace IP address with the IP address designated for the RBS node. The RBS replies to the ping request if the connection is correctly configured.

Downloading a Basic CV from a TC to a CBU This section describes how to download basic CV software to the CBU through FTP. The instructions are valid for most FTP clients. Note: Use binary transfer mode in the FTP client for all file transfers. 1. Start the FTP client. 2. Connect to the RBS, using the IP address: 169.254.1.1 (example). 3. Enter user name RBS and the password 4. Transfer the basic CV directories c2 and d from the TC to the root directory of the RBS. 5. Exit the FTP client when the file transfer is complete

Restarting the RBS


Restart the RBS using the following command in HyperTerminal: reload The RBS restarts with the basic CV. The process can take a few minutes.
