alr clean. The tcwn was rebullt under supervl-
slcn cf the 8rltlsh after the 18z earthquake,
based cn thelr antl-earthquake regulatlcns.

facades cf hcuses. The upper flccrs had less
welght and were relnfcrced wlth vertlcal beams
