A Note from Donna

Members, Happy Spring! Hope this lovely weather and all the beautiful blooms have
inspired you to new and creative things. Thank you to all the members that have taken on jobs to make the experience of membership for everyone even better. Members are coming out and enjoying the friendship of working on charity quilts the last Tuesday of the month. I am loving our "Block of the Month Bonanza"; Faith has found interesting, challenging blocks for us to try. I am looking forward to seeing them made in to quilts and other projects at Christmas. Our Hospitality time has become a hit! Thank you to Sue Marlette for keeping it organized, getting to meetings early and setting up. A great time to catch up with fellow quilters before our meetings. Our Christmas party is already being planned! Don't forget to bring new or gently used items in for Donna Compton & Rachel Wessel to use for our Chinese Auction. We want EVERYONE to be coming home with a basket that night. As we reach 50 members!! I am looking forward to expanding our activities. We want there to be something for every member to be excited about. Please let me know if you have an idea or would like to inspire or participate on a committee with the guild. The only bad idea is the one not shared!!

NC most of my life . Spent approximately 7 years away in Homestead, FL and Richmond, VA Spouse: Married to Bobby Jackson, May 5th 1963. Will celebrate our 50th Wedding anniversary this year. Children: Daughters Sheri and Amy Hobbies: Quilting and reading. Enjoy inspirational novels especially about the Amish people. Quilting Highlights: Became interested in quilting as a child while watching my mother and her friends quilt on large quilting frames. Learned to lap quilt by watching Georgia Bonesteel on TV. Guild: Became a charter member in 1990 and made my first sampler quilt. Favorite Quilt Pattern: 8 point star Quilting Enjoyment: Machine piecing and making traditional quilts. Cherished Memories: Winning the Guild Trip to the Hampton Roads Quilt show in 2011. Enjoyed attending with quilters from Vance Quilts R Us.

If you have fabric that you don't know what to do with - Debbie has lots of easy pattern ideas. You can bring your sewing machine along, or if you would like to use one of Debbie's, give her a call. If you need directions for this block, please contact Faith Smith. Fat Quarter Frenzy: Our fat quarter winner for March was Ellen Andersen. Dont forget to bring a fat quarter with your name on it for a chance to win a bag full of fat quarters. Name Tag Giveaway: If you remember your name tag each month, you have a chance to win a $15 dollar gift certificate from Quilt Like Crazy. The March winner was Georgia Darnell. Program Notes
Belinda Leach presented Color Theory in Quiltmaking, a great program on color and use of the color wheel when planning fabric combinations. Color wheels were distributed to all guild members who later had the opportunity to practice putting together color options from the samples brought. Great job Belinda!

Donna Compton shares her completed Quilt in a Box from last year's challenge and a t-shirt quilt she made for her niece from shirts she received from Race for the Cure marathons.
