Journal View

Pocket Informant provides a powerful journaling feature for your appointments, tasks, or contacts. The Journal View lets you look at your journal in its entirety in a dated and parent view. You can create journals that are independent of any contact, task, or appointment or as a journal of an item. If you have the WebIS JournalSync product you can also sync your journals to Outlook on the desktop.

Dated View
The Dated Journal View displays your journal items by date - much like the Calendar Agenda View.

Parent View
The Parent Journal View displays all the parents of journal items and then the journal items underneath them. You can open the parent items as well as the journal items.

Create a Journal Entry Associated with an Item


To create a Journal entry associated with an item, tap and hold on the item and choose Edit > New Journal Entry. The Parent Field will reect the associated Item. You can now enter Journal information, such as the Subject, Type, Date (auto-lled), Duration, Notes, and Categories. If you wish to associate this Journal Entry with another item, tap on the Parent eld. You can also create new journal entries associated with an item by simply opening the item for editing and then navigating to the journal tab.

Viewing Journal entries associated with an item


You can view an items associated Journal entries by one of the following methods: 1. Find the item in the Journal View using the Parent View. 2. Tap on the Journal icon next to the item in its native view. Tapping on a Journal entry will open it for editing. 3. Tap and hold on the item and choose Edit >Journal 4. Open the item and go to the Journal tab

Creating a Journal Entry not associated with an item


To create a Journal entry that is NOT associated with an item (ad-hoc), simply go to the Journal View or a calendar view if it has journals being shown and select New. A selection box asking what type of entry to create will come up - just choose journal. If you wish to associate this Journal Entry with another item, tap on the Parent eld.

Journal data includes basic information such as subject, company type, duration, and privacy as well as rich text notes.

Incoming Phone Journals


1. If you have a Windows Mobile 5 or 6 based phone then you can have Pocket Informant automatically bring up a new journal for the incoming caller when an incoming call occurs. This is off by default but you can turn it on with the followings steps: 2. Select the Right Soft Key. Select My Informant and then Settings. 3. Select Journal. 4. Select the Make Journal on Incoming Phone Call option and turn it on.

Adding new Types of Journal Entries


To change the Types available to you in the Journal window, edit the le \Application Data \WebIS or \My Documents\WebIS\JournalTypes.reg in a text editor on the desktop.
