Connection Napa JOB ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION TITLE: Program Coordinator LOCATION: Napa County, California RESPONSIBLE TO: LGBTQ Connection Program Director HOURS: Part-Time (20 hrs/week) with potential for Full-Time expansion of hours SALARY: Competitive salary, depending on experience SUMMARY: LGBTQ Connection is Napas first (and only) comprehensive initiative increasing awareness & inclusion--and ultimately, health and well-being--for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning people across Napa County. The program has had tremendous success and grown quickly over the last two years and is looking to hire a dynamic team member to work primarily with diverse populations, including older adults, youth, schools and other nonprofit agencies and professionals in Napa County. While Napa County is technically part of the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, it is worlds apart in terms of acceptance and visibility for the LGBTQ people that live, work and go to school here. What started as a fledgling support group for LGBTQ youth in early spring 2010 has quickly become a county-wide initiative serving hundreds of people. LGBTQ Connection is looking to hire an inspiring facilitator, trainer and experienced program developer that excels in guiding teams of people (especially volunteers) to view themselves as leaders and accomplish goals in the context of a grass-roots, small-town, LGBTQ community organization. LGBTQ Connections Program Coordinator works directly with the Program Director, Advisory Committee and volunteer youth and adult leaders to design and implement innovative programs, events, trainings and outreach to fulfill the programs mission of creating a county that is healthy, safe and fully inclusive of LGBTQ people--with a visible, diverse and vibrant LGBTQ community. The programs overall goals are both exciting and dauntingmost projects initiated by LGBTQ Connection are being done for the first time in Napa Countys history. RESPONSIBILITIES: LGBTQ Connections Program Coordinator will likely oversee and implement development of programs and leadership teams in the areas of:

Youth Development Facilitating groups and activities for in-school and out-of-school youth, developing a vibrant network of gay-straight alliances, leading trainings and workshops with students, adult supporters, teachers, school administration, and community projects centered on goals of LGBTQ support or activism. Senior Citizens & Senior-Serving Agencies Coordinating a monthly group for LGBT seniors, developing volunteer group facilitators, connecting with senior-serving agencies and professionals. Training and Workshop Coordination Outreaching for, coordinating and facilitating dynamic and motivating workshops for nonprofit, social service and health-related agencies, professionals and other businesses in the community to increase awareness and implementation of LGBTQ best practices. QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate for this position easily makes connections with people, motivating and inspiring them to achieve results and connect as a team. Poise and an engaging, empathetic communication style based on natural warmth and enthusiasm is the key to achieving the goals of this job. 1. Degree in LGBTQ Studies, humanities or educationor significant professional experience in related fields. 2. Demonstrated experience working with, and developing leadership in, diverse communities (of age, race, gender, income, sexual-orientation, geography) 3. Exceptional oral and written communication skills 4. Collaborative approach to communication and decision-making 5. Proficiency in using computers, office machines and software 6. Desired, but not required qualifications: bilingual/bicultural in Spanish language, experience with public school system, demonstrated experience with a bridge-building approach to activism, familiarity with Napa County BENEFITS: Competitive salary, with a range of benefits including medical and paid time off.
