UPMC must look at capacity planning. It is the process of predicting when a CPU hardware become saturated. UPMC has not dont this in the past but it should plan it for the future. UPMC should also make sure it knows the total cost of the assests of the technology. Eventhough I dont think its a good idea to own and maintain hardware and etc, they have to decide to either lease or buy them from a external tech service provider. UPMC should also know that the more severs it has the more risk it has also so it should try and reduce the number of people go on the server.

Do case study (Terror watch) page 240.

1) Main idea which is mentioned in this case was about the integration of

multiple databases into one. One of the goals was to integrate 12 databases of different government agencies into one single database. 2) It was created in 2003 to help communications between multiple government agencies about info on terrorists. Terror Watch list is one of the most effective counter terrorism tools for the government. Its a database of identifying info about terrorist involved in the activity 3) Polices for adding and removing individual from that list are not the same between government agencies. Different department follows the different policies. Inconsistent policy increases the size of the list. Almost 200,000 entries are being made each year since 2004. There is no simple and quick process for removing individuals from this list. 4) Integrating all agencys is a difficult process. The entrys can be ineffective because it might not be accurate or authentic. Innocent people have to face punishment because the list can be inaccurate. Government agencies have integrated to their list one single database, some time the database accuracy can be poor. 5) High quality databases should be used to avoid inaccurate and duplicate data entries. Data cleansing software are used to correct most of the wrong data. Gov. agencys need to develop standard procedure and consistent policies for removing individual people from the list
