6 pts 18. Label the 5 states with an X which were created by the Northwest Ordinance

1 pt For this section of the test, answer the question fully and completely in sentence form. Answers should be around a paragraph long (5 sentences). Questions are worth 5 points each. Use the next blank page for your answers as well. Essay Questions 1. How were the issues discussed at the Constitutional Convention related to the issues surrounding the United States before the Civil War? 1 points The one main idea talked about at the Constitutional Convention was about strong government. This was also an issue during Civil War Expand more on this? What were the other ideas discussed? States Rights, 2. What Senator (Calhoun, Webster, Clay) do you most closely agree with and why? 5 points I tend to agree with Calhoun. His ideas of states rights are vital to a strong, successful government. This makes sure that the federal government does not have too much power. I also agree with Calhoun because this is the way the current government is set up. States and people have a lot of rights and that is what makes up a good democracy. I did not agree with Calhoun on the ideas of slavery. I like how you chose to talk about Calhoun. States rights are definitely important and you made this clear. I also thought it was wise of you to say that you did not agree with the ideas of slavery. Well done!

3. How are the Gettysburg Address and the Declaration of Independence similar? How are they different? (two each) 3 points The one similarity between these two documents is that they both talk a lot about ideas of freedom and equality. That is the only similarity. The Gettysburg address wants a unified nation while the Declaration of Independence wants government to be separated among the states. There is more than one similarity between these two documents. Expanding on the fact they both stress democracy could be another similarity. I liked your ideas I just feel you could have expanded a little more to give me a paragraph response.
