INTRODUCTION

A time table is a pre-arranged and systematic scheme of studies and activities of an institution .it is a plan showing the daily allotment of time among various Subjects, topics and activities. It shows the distribution of time for each teacher. His teaching load, the length of each period ,time interval and total duration of work a long with the time allotted to different items of work load both academic and co-curricular activities. A time table is in fact, the second clock of the institution on the face of which are shown the periods of work, intervals in between and the kind of activity in each class, time table is they a mirror that relates all kinds of activities being organized in an institution NEED AND IMPORTENCE OF TIME TABLE Time table is an essential record for the efficient functioning of an institution. It the instrument that makes school work as for schedule, it is the time table that supplies the framework within which the work of an institution proceeds.

THE IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS OF THE TIME TABLE ARE 1. It ensures an orderly and smooth functioning of an institution Everything and item of activity is detailed in advance in a time table. All teachers as well as students now their work in order and time fixed for the purpose. That ensures an orderly and smooth functioning of an institution is clear from the fact that regular work goes on even in the absence of the principal or head master.

2. It facilitates equitable distribution of work among teachers

Each teacher is allotted equal share of work and leisure. All this is properly reflected in the time table. The principal can know at a glance the amount of work and leisure. All this is properly reflected in the time table. 3. It prevents wastage of time and energy Time table works as a mirror showing exactly what is to be done at a particular time .It draws the attention of both the teacher and students to the item of work to be taken up at a time. 4.It ensures equitable distribution of different subjects and activities Time table seeks to give attention and weigh Take to the item of work as prescribed .all subjects of studies and co curricular activities are given adequate time according to their weigh Take . 5.It helps maintaining discipline in the institution Discipline is the life blood of the institution or a time table directly aids an institute to maintain discipline in the and among the personal of an institution. In absence of time table there is bound to be chaos and conclusion but with a preplanned time table a school functions smoothly.

6. It promotes punctuality among staff and students A good time table enables every body in an institution to the habits of punctuality orderliness and steadfastness it regularity and methodical approach towards work among students and teachers. TYPES OF TIME TABLE

The type of time table depends on the nature and activities carried on in an institution. Time table indicates curricular and co-curricular activities being organized in particular places and hours. It also shows under supervision those activities are carried out. A comprehensive will give all the details of such information as may be useful for the principal to refer and monitor. Hence time table are prepared according to various purposes generally the following types of time table are prepared and used in school.
CONSOLIDATED TIME TABLE

A general time table gives a complete picture of the entire activities of an institution organized during a weak .it is the sum total all the time tables .classwise and subject-wise .in a concise form it creates the work of all teachers in all classes.
CLASS TIME TABLE

Class time table is meant for each class and section a class the distribution of subjects with teachers for each period it recess or recreation in between the periods and co-curricular activities .all the section and classes of an institution follow their time table .it is an essential reference instrument for teacher and student.
TEACHERS TIME TABLE

As a consolidated time table is essential for effective monitoring teachers time table is necessary for the guidance of teachers of both academic and cocurricular activities for various along with the time and duration of recess and leisure such time table must be readily available in the teachers.

FLOATING TIME TABLE

Time table is prepared for showing the leisure periods the teachers for the reference of the principal making arrangements. This is necessary for keeping classes engaged when some teachers may remain absent go on leave during some periods of a day teachers who have leisure periods will be asked to take up the classes lying vacant due to absence of some teachers in the school. Copy of such time table is made available in office room of the head of the principal.

IMPORTANT PRINCIPLES OF TIME TABLE CONSTRUCTION Construction of time tables for various purposes as mention above is a difficult task and a large number of factors are to be considered for preparing good time tables. The following important factors and principles are kept in view for formulation of suitable time tables.
TYPES OF SCHOOLS

The type of institution is of primary importance in construction of a good time table. An institution may be primary-upper primary, high school, rural or urban school, or evening public or private higher secondary. These type of influence the nature of the time table due to specific needs of the student.
RULES AND REGULATIONS

Rules and regulations issued by the government/director SCERT is of basic consideration constructing the time table. The duration of period time to given to different subjects, time allotted for recess extra are determined according to the rules.

RELATIVE IMPORTENCE AND DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF SUBJECTS

A subjects set is allotted some periods according to its importance level of syllabus. All the subjects are given time according to its importance of syllabus. All the subjects are given time according to weight age which is determined by the difficulty level of and importance of subject. For instance if English is given importance, it comparatively more time. Mathematics is given more time as well as periods for completion of the course.

ELASTICITY

Time table in order to be an effective day- to day functioning and transacting the curriculum. Have adequate flexibility and elasticity as for as possible should be ample scope for necessary adjustment and meeting specific needs for certain classes of students. It should be over servant, not our master. It should not be a mechanical.
