The only way to be forgiven and saved by God is faith in Christ for forgiveness of sins and for salvation,

but faith (belief in God and trust in Jesus as Savior) is never alone. When a person has true living faith in God, he will have these fruits, or results of salvation: 1. Relationship with God: John 15:6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 2. Obedience to God: Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 3. Love God: 1 Corinthians 16:22 If anyone does not love the Lorda curse be on him. 4. Bear fruit for God: John 15:2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. We are not saved by doing good or obeying the commandments. We are saved by the grace of salvation through faith alone, but when we really trust in Jesus as our Savior, God will give us a new spiritual life. This new spiritual life will naturally motivate us to love God and follow God. We should also do our part to read the Bible, to praise God, to pray to God as much as possible, to love and obey God, in order to keep this new spiritual life growing in Christ. If a person believes in Jesus, but does not follow God and does not obey God, he will lose his salvation: James 2:26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. If a person is not sure whether he is saved nor not, he should confess his sins and ask Jesus to forgive his sins and trust in Jesus as his Savior. He should also read the Bible and pray much, and love God and obey God. When he fails any time, he should ask God to forgive him and then continue to trust in Jesus and obey and love God. We enter the kingdom of heaven by faith in Jesus alone. Obeying and loving God is the result of this living faith. We are not saved by obeying and loving God. But real living faith will always produce obedience and love for God. The will of God is found in the whole Bible. The most important things we are to obey are the great commandment: Mark 12:30-31 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. 31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these. The second is the Great Commission: Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
