I can't even imagine what it's like to be the parents of the woman married to on e of the Boston bombers.

Even worse, it must really suck to be his kid, who wil l forever be defined by having a terrorist father. Thank God both of the terror ists have been found and will be brought to justice. What scares me though is t hat radical muslim ideology drove their terror plot according to the latest repo rts. There's really no way our gov't can protect us from muslims who immigrated here legally without any intention of killing Americans, became citizens, and t hen at some point became radicalized and decided to go on their own personal jih ad against America. These are our neighbors, fellow classmates, etc, so we have no reason to suspect they're terrorists. We won't know they are until they ter rorize us, and that's the scariest part. If you think about it, there's nothing to stop a muslim who has assimilated into our country from carrying out another terrorist attack just like the one in Boston. He could go to any major city an d plant a bomb in a subway or building with hundreds or even thousands of people and detonate it without even being noticed until it's too late. We've survived as a country because we've always allowed anyone from another country to come h ere after going through the immigration and legalization processes and to assimi late into our country and culture. But that was totally dependent upon the assu mption that the immigrants came here for a better life and believed America and her citizens were better than the country they came from. In fact, our immigran ts have made this country what it is today, cause if you think about it, we're a ll the descendants of immigrants except the native americans. America quickly b ecame the most prosperous country in the world because we took all the best and brightest people that were either poor, persecuted, or simply not free in other countries and gave them freedom and opportunity, which they used to better their own lives and the lives of their fellow citizens. But what if some of these im migrants began coming here out of evil intentions and started pretending they wa nted to come here for a better life when in reality, they wanted to kill America ns? Or as in the case of the Boston bombers, what if they came here with no bad intentions but already had the seeds of evil planted in them and were basically a volcano of hatred only needing a trigger to explode? How can we prevent that ? Unfortunately I don't believe there are any easy or simple answers to these q uestions, but they're questions we as Americans need to be thinking about nevert heless. We've become too fat and complacent, but our enemies have only grown mo re disciplined and determined to destroy us. We take our military for granted, but what would we do if they weren't protecting us? They're the only thing stan ding between us and many jihadists around the world just waiting for the chance to blow us up. Without our military, would the rest of America have the courage and discipline needed to fight them? Better yet, if we had a WW3 and the draft was reinstated, how many of our men would be willing and able to fight the men of another country who haven't been complacent in their desire to end our freedo m and way of life? Let's hope none of these hypothetical scenarios ever happen, but in the meantime, we should at least use this horrible event as a means of r eflecting on who we are and where we're going as a society. Are we ready to fig ht and die for our freedom, and if so, what are we living for that we'd be willi ng to die for? Faith? Family? Or nothing at all? Is there something in our l ives that we're willing to die for, and if not, is there anything or anyone who' s worth living for if they're not worth sacrificing your life for? I'm guessing these are questions most Americans haven't been asking themselves, but maybe it 's time they start, cause there may come a day when we'll be forced to answer th em by circumstances outside of our control.
