BODY SHOPS CSR INITIATIVES Against Animal Testing The main issue that presents the application of CSR

in The Body Shop Company is the issue against test of cosmetics products on animal. A petition signed by over 4.000.000 people presented to the EU by Body Shop in the 1996, was the largest petition against animal testing. The company jointly with customers and different animal protection groups started campaigning trying to change the law of cosmetics products testing on animals. A great step forward regarding this issue from the company was the conditioning to their suppliers that it would boycott any ingredient that had been tested on animal after the cut-off date which was December 31, 1990. Moreover, The Body Shop Foundation (BSF) was awarded $20.000 in order to support research finding alternatives substituting animal tests. After 2005 Body Shop was awarded with first prices from different Animal Protection Institutions like: Royal Society for the Protection of Animals and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal (PETA). In relation with the acquisition of different prices for the protection of animals, the founder of the company Roddick said that the company vision is not only offering great products but also to demonstrate ethical consumer purchasing power as well. Support Community Trade During the 1980s, Body Shop bought its first Community Trade Product (CTP). Using CTP, Body Shop takes its sources from different countries creating great communication with global community. Moreover, this is not just for creating new product and market for Body Shop but is about value, trade, respect, friendship and trust. Furthermore, due to the CTP, the company is known as a pioneer of fair trade in the industry of cosmetics, it also provides wage and creates long-term relationships with Community Trade suppliers and workers. Through CTP the company vision is presenting a model which other companies can follow in order to benefit the community. In addition, to ensure that the CTP is applied successfully the company has established Fair Trade Guidelines (showed in appendixes). Furthermore, the company organizes participatory audits where they inform and advise suppliers to improve long-term benefits; they also help them to reduce the dependence on the company by enabling access to wider market to express their skills. Through CTP initiative the company each year buys different ingredients to develop products, gifts and accessories. Finally, CTP is spread across 24 countries including 31 different communities.

Based on traditional economic theory the company's main goal is to enhance profits. The performance of the company is the interest of different groups in society. Moreover, the operation of the company has affect stakeholders and obviously this affects the implementation of goals and how these goals might be achieved. The Body Shop has a wide range of employees, which constitute one of the main stakeholders; the company by offering job security and diversity, a fair income, promotion and training opportunities achieve the aim of the company to make employees feel proud and enjoy their time working. The operation of the company in many countries has made it multi-local business, built on franchising. Furthermore, franchisees as stakeholders benefits an easily recognition, benefits proven product and brand name, guaranteed suppliers, training and advice by the company. The Body Shop sells its products every 0.4 seconds, which means that the company is successful and highly sought by consumers. This demand for the company made customers the main stakeholders, this demand is based on high quality, value for money products, well-informed customers and the environmental responsibility of the company. In addition, The Body Shop by creating the Community Trade suppliers which came from 13 different countries such Ghana, Nepal, Namibia, and Ecuador selected for the reason that they are struggling economically, create one of the stakeholder of the company. The company offers creativity, training, information and purchasing power by taking from them supplies.
