IIBA Academic Membership & Recognition Programs


The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Academic Membership Program provides an opportunity for colleges and universities to forge a strong partnership with IIBA for the advancement of the profession of business analysis. The goal of IIBA is to create a win/ win relationship with our Academic Members and provide them with the products and services to offer industry recognized curricula to their students and allow their students to access the many beneits of IIBA membership. The IIBA Recognition Program will recognize students enrolled in undergraduate and/or graduate programs related to business analysis for the knowledge they have gained in this discipline. The IIBA Academic Certiicate in Business Analysis program provides an opportunity for anyone considering a career in business analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of the BA role. It is designed for people who have no prior business analysis experience. Students who successfully complete the course will be awarded a certiicate from IIBA. Students gain an advantage in their careers, and have a clear path towards future professional certiication in business analysis. The IIBA Diploma Program is still under development.

Academic Membership Beneits


The college or university, their faculty and students will be associated with IIBA, the worlds leading organization for the business analysis profession. In addition to the individual member beneits included with IIBA membership, Academic Membership provides: A discount on membership fees. A royalty-free license to host a secure copy of A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK Guide) on the college or university intranet a $5,000 value for free. Collaboration with IIBA on the alignment of the Academic Members BA programs with the IIBA recognition programs (when they become available). The institution with consent to offer the Academic Certiicate in Business Analysis, coming soon. Only Academic Members will be authorized to offer this certiicate. Other products/services include: 50% discount on bulk purchases of hard copies of the BABOK Guide 11% discount off the application and exam fees for the IIBA certiication exams 25% discount on a license for the IIBA Business Analysis Competency Model 20% discount on IIBA services

Academic Membership Requirements


In becoming an Academic Member, the educational institution makes the following commitments: A minimum of 10 individuals (students, faculty, and/or staff) at the institution will register for IIBA membership. To continue to receive the member discount after the irst year of enrolment, the university or college will be required to maintain a minimum of 10 IIBA members. The discount code provided to the institution will only be given to students enrolled in business analysis related courses and programs and their faculty, as well as institution staff. Once each year, the institution will review the list of individuals using the institutions discount code and advise IIBA of any individuals not eligible to use the discount code. The institution grants IIBA the right to identify the institution as an IIBA Academic Member, including posting the institutions logo on the IIBA Academic Membership web page.

How to Become an Academic Member

Contact IIBA by email at academic@IIBA.org stating the name of your institution, the name of your Academic Membership contact, and that you agree to abide by the requirements of Academic Membership as outlined in this document. IIBA will provide your institution with a discount code. This discount code is valid for one year, and you will receive a new code upon renewal of your Academic Membership. Distribute the discount code to students, faculty, and staff who wish to join IIBA. Students and faculty then visit the IIBA website at www.IIBA.org, click on Join, complete the registration form including identifying their institution in the Employer ield and the discount code, and pay the member fee by credit card.
