Jesus Falls the First Time Consider this first fall of Jesus under His cross. His flesh was torn by the scourges, His 2nd Station head crowned with thorns, and he had lost a great quantity of blood. Meditation: 1) What weaknesses cause you to stumble and fall under the weight of your burdens? 2) Do you ridicule others when they fall? Prayers: O Jesus by this first fall, never let me fall into mortal sin.

Jesus is met by His Mother Consider the meeting of the Son and the Mother which took place in this journey. Son condemned without sin and His Mother in pain for not being able to help Her Son. Try to feel the pain of the Mother in pity and love. Meditation: 1) What is it like to watch a loved one suffer and know there is nothing you can do to help? 2) How might you better appreciate those who care about you? Prayer: O Jesus, may no human tie, however dear, keep me from following the road of the cross. 4th Station

At Easter Sunday, the notes will be offered in prayer then burned that its Spirit rise to heaven.

Cross is laid on Simon of Cyrene Consider how the soldiers, seeing that at each step Jesus, from weakness, was on the point of expiring and fearing that He would die on the way, when they wished Him to die the ignominious death of the Cross, forced Simon of Cyrene to carry the Cross behind our Lord. Meditation: When you are asked to help an unpopular person or cause, do you do so willingly or reluctantly? Prayers: Simon unwillingly assisted Thee. Jesus Falls the Second Time Imagine Jesus with His body totally in pain second falls. How He struggles to finish His promise of saving us, to meet His death to save us. Meditation: How do you summon strength and perseverance to carry on in the face of failure? Prayers: By the second fall, preserve me O Lord. Give me strength not to relapse into sin.
