Dear Tata Steel Re: Application for Mechanical Engineer Vacancy I refer to the position of Mechanical Engineer advertised

on your website. Please find attached my Curriculum Vitae and application form for your consideration. I first became interested in joining the Steel industry during my first year of my Mechanical Engineering BTEC course at Leeds City College, when I attended Engineering Materials lectures. The Steel industry appealed to me as I was surprised at how much our planet depends on it. My long standing interest in Materials Engineering, I feel is a function that would allow me to see projects through from start to finish, enjoying the work presented. I am particularly attracted to working at Tata Steel because of the firms excellent reputation, focus on client value, and the opportunity to train for the a chartered engineer qualification, which will help me develop my skills and career. I come from an advanced Mechanical Engineering background having completed one year of a degree in Aerospace Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University and obtaining an average of 70% I believe I am well qualified to add value to the Mechanical Engineering team at Tata Steel. I have extensive experience working within the industrial environment due to my time working in Halfords. I have also gained lots of experience directly related to the Steel industry by attending core university modules such as Engineering Materials And Manufacturing Processes which I scored 71% in. During my time in education and within my work experience I have developed a range of skills useful for work in the engineering sector. My time at university has provided me with confidence in my skills in managing my own time and priorities, completing work to deadlines and I have come to enjoy the challenge of learning new things whether it be in regards to my studies or sports. Throughout my time at university I have also gained knowledge of systematically managing, storing and retrieving documents, as well as using Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint to keep myself and others organised. I have developed skills in various engineering programs such as MatLab, SolidWorks and other CAD software. As well as helping me to develop academically, my time at university has allowed my social skills to thrive as well as showing that I am capable of both working independently and exerting myself as part of a team. I have helped fund my degree by working part time in the hospitality and sales sector which provided me with a lot of experience in providing a high standard of customer service and creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I enjoy a challenge and my varied life experience has helped expand my horizons and mould me into a flexible, well-rounded person.
