The Masters Message

April is Public Schools Month. San Diego Lodge #35 has a long history of supporting schools; from reading to school kids who may have never heard a mans voice read a book, to our support of the Raising a Reader Program, to our adopting Dewey school and providing them some essentials and a few fun things the school board cant provide. These words below are excerpts from: www.calodges.org/no3/ GL_Ed_Series_Feb05.pdf. What do Masons really have to do with Public Education? Traditionally, throughout its long history, Freemasonry has taken a leading role in the promotion of learning and education. From its early beginnings, in the 18th century in England and Scotland, Masons were among the founders of learned academies. Masons have been active in education at every level from grammar school through university. Freemasonry and the public schools share several important values. Basic to each is the concept of the dignity of the individual. Every man, in every condition, is great. The grandeur

The Ladies Corner

The Ladies of the Lodge had a great time playing PO*KE*NO last month. Susie did a great job calling the cards and the prizes winners left with. April is Public Schools Month for us and we are hoping to arrange a speaker from Central Elementary to talk about the effects of Raising a Reader in the classroom. Should make an interesting and informative time. Masonic information night will be held in the Morrison Room on April 10th. If you and your husband are fairly new to Masonry, this is a great time to get any questions you may have answered. Ill. Robert Winterton, from Scottish Rite will be the speaker. Dinner starts at 6:00PM so you should make reservations with Scottish Rite if you plan to attend. The Annual Barrett Junction Fish Fry is on the horizon; nice trip out to East County and lots of food, fun and fellowship. May 19th is the date and more information will be sent out. CYA there! Have a great start to Spring! Sharon S. Bullard ssbullard@cox.net (619) 857-4841
