As in (a) and (b), the simple present tense expresses daily habits or usual activities. As in (c), (d), (e) and (f) the simple present tense expresses general statements of fact. In sum, the simple present tense is used for events or situations that exist always, usually, or habitually in the past, present, and future. Noun formula: (+) S + am,is,are + O/C, ex: she is a surgeon (-) S + am,is,are + not + O/C, ex: she is not a surgeon (?) am,is,are + S + O/C + ?, ex: is she a surgeon? Verb formula: (+) S + V-1 + O/C, ex: I,we,they,you ask for a prescription from the drugstore (-) S + do/does + not + V-1 + O/C, ex: i,we,they,you dont ask for a prescription from the drugstore (?) Do/does + S + V-1 + O/C + ?, ex: do i,we,they,you ask for a prescription from the drugstore.
