Create a UML Deployment Diagram


Open a Microsoft Visio 2010 UML template.

On the ribbon, click the File tab, and then click New. Click Software and Database, and then click UML Model Diagram. To create a new UML diagram, click Create.

Set display options.

Right-click the shape, and then click Shape Display Options. Select or clear checkboxes.

Under Suppress, select checkboxes for items you want to hide.


Select the Apply to subsequently dropped UML shapes of the same type in the current drawing window page checkbox.

Annotate the diagram with notes and constraints.

Drop the note or constraint onto the page. Double-click the note or constraint to edit properties. Associate the note or constraint with an entity by dragging the control handle to an entity shape.
The note or constraint will appear in the entitys properties.

Link data to shapes.

On the ribbon, click the Data tab, and then click Link Data to Shapes.

Select the data source (for example, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office Access, other database)
The External Data window opens.
