Details Objective
Visual Media Comm 130 Section 02, Esplin Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator/ Adobe InDesign

Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead. Use the basic tools of Illustrator and InDesign.

Description
I based this off of a Consulting Business I know of from back home, however not my own family business. I used the colors I did because I like those two colors and I tried to keep it professional looking for a consulting company.

Process
I started out with trying to think of what kind of company I wanted to do. I tried to get creative, but wanted to remain a professional appearance. I tried just typing different things in fonts and tried stretching and enlarging some letters and wanted to do that with the whole title of the company, but realized it would be difficult to read so I decided to just enlarge the Cs and have them interlock.

Objective
Create a variety of logos to fit a company or personal image. Use the basic tools of Illustrator.

Description
This project was one more difficult. We were asked to come up with logos for any made up company or one that we might know. I enjoyed it, but creativity is something I lack. I tried different color schemes as well as trying to make letters instead of type them.

Process
I had a difficult time with this project, cause it was hard for me to get my creative side going. It did get a little more enjoyable as it progressed. I used the rectangle tool, and the rounded rectangle tool for the two shapes. I used the pen tool when writing out the letter F of the first logo. I decided to adjust the angle on type for the second logo. Most of what is seen is just different typographies.

Objective

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image and logo from links on this page. Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links intact.

Description

Black and White promotional flier to promote a graduate leadership conference

Process
I first created sketches of my flier. I used my sketch as my guide for my flier, I did not follow my sketch exactly how I drew it because I felt there could be some changes made while working on it. I used a dark grayish box under the heading and above the logo and website to provide contrast. I used small text and kept white space to contrast with that. I was given the logo, image and content for this flier.

Objective
Find, scan and import a high-quality image. Create a full-bleed design Use text boxes for layout in Word. Insert and edit images in Word.

Description

A color full bleed event ad to promote a fund raiser using only Microsoft Word and a scanner

Process

I used Runners World magazine to find the image I wanted. I scanned the image and in doing so, it left a grayish color as the background. I toyed around with the other shirts in the image, and then decided to crop them all out and leave the red shirt in the middle and then get rid of the background so that it blended in better with the page. I was thinking of adding a red box at the bottom of the page with the letters so the color of the box and the shirt would be the same, but then was asked what it would look like with a black box instead and I liked the contrast of that. I was impressed with the tools in Microsoft word that I know I could use this quickly if I was having problems with any other programs

Objective
Learn to manage Photoshop layers. Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks. Use filters. Apply appropriate typography.

Description
We were asked to make a montage using photoshop and the different tools that are in there such as masking and blending. I had a lot of fun with this project and putting it together.

Process
I cropped the background image to an 8.5 x 11. I selected the photo of myself and then added a mask to it. With black paint and 100% opacity, soft edged brush I painted away the edges. I zoomed in closer to the photo to get closer to the image to get rid of any background and distracting edges that did not go with the 8.5 x 11. I added text and contrasting fonts, along with colors to make it more legible for the picture.

Objective
Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Create an original company logo and use it in a brochure. Incorporate quality images.

Description
Set up a brochure to advertise for a company that would look appealing and professional to attract customers and viewers.

Process
First I made ruler guides for to figure out how to set up the brochure and know where to fold after printing. I put the first ruler guide on the front page at 6 1/4 inches. I put the second ruler guide at 4 3/4 inches on the inside along with another at 9 1/4 inches. The second ruler guide I set up is to show where the fold will be so I know where to place images and text. I place images in opposite corners on the inside to allow for a full bleed and for margins. The image with the calculator and pencil is placed nicely so after printing I know where to fold the cover of it. It took some time getting down the gradient that I have. I had a lot of white and decided to have a nice blue gradient to go with the brochure as the background.
