Determining Adhesive Requirements

For single wall pipe and fittings, the ratio is usually one adhesive bond to one bell end, whether it is on a fitting or a
pipe joint. For example, a 90 degree elbow would require 2 bonds as the fitting is bell x bell. Putting two joints of bellend pipe together is one bond.
Count the bonds PER DIAMETER by counting the number of bell ends by size. Once the bonds have been counted,
convert the TOTAL bonds per diameter to quantity of adhesives by dividing the bond amount by the number of bonds
per kit for that particular diameter. For example, 20 bonds for 2 pipe and fittings in Series 5000 would require (5) 3-oz
RP105B adhesive kits.
Please note that many conditions will affect the quantity of adhesives required for any particular job, such as
humidity, temperature, and crew experience. It is best to factor in 5-10% extra adhesives when determining
quantities on larger installations.
