Application

Most industrial processes generate dust. This dust may profitably be removed for pollution abatement and material recovery purposes. FLS Insertable Jet Pulse Filters are bag filters in which the dust-laden air enters through the base, and is evenly distributed between the filter bags. The dust is deposited on the outside of the needle-felt bags, while the air passes through the felt into the clean air chamber at the top of the casing before release into the atmosphere. Cleaning takes place by the injection of an ultrashort burst of compressed air into the bags. The dust dislodged from the outside of the bags falls direct into a silo or into the conveyor on which the filter is mounted, and is then returned to the production process. The air jet cleans each row of bags in turn. The burst is triggered by the electronic timer at fixed intervals, adjustable between 1 and 120 sec.

Design and operation

The filter module comprises 6 rows each with 6 or 9 cylindrical bags mounted on wire cages 1.5 m long and 120 mm in diameter. The filtration surface is thus 0.55 M2 per bag. Dedusting capacity is 90-180 m3/h per m2 of filtration surface according to dust type and operating conditions. The filter can operate at air temperatures up to 80 oC with a directmounted fan, or up to 200oC with special bags and separate fan. FLS Insertable Jet Pulse Filters may be installed horizontally or vertically. The bags can easily be replaced without the use of tools. All types of industrial dust can be handled. Filters for coal have special features to prevent explosions and fires. The filter is designed to give trouble-free operation 24 hours a day and requires a minimum of maintenance. Filter operation costs are very often offset by the value of the material recovered.

Furthermore, effective dust filtration averts shutdowns, while the reduction in industrial pollution should be considered in each case. The type designation is IN (Insertable) or INF (Insertable with direct-mounted FLS Fan CQF 40/40) followed by the digits 36 or 54, indicating the number of filter bags per unit.

Dimensioning

Example: A material conveyor to be dedusted at an air temperature below 80oC at a rate of 75 m3/min. Solution: FLS insertable Jet Pulse Filter Type INF 54 is recommended. The CQF 40/40 fan will work at an efficiency of 0.75 with a total pressure of 180 rnrn WG and with a power consumption of 3.2 kW. For temperatures between 80oC and 200oC, an FLS Insertable Jet Pulse Filter, Type IN 54 with special bags and separate fan is recom- mended.
