Notes

Postmodern times has left us with the consideration that music is not an autonomous art, but it is relevant to our
cultural and social circumstances now embracing the experience of international styles or musica universalis. The
consequences of this are form of eclectic and pluralist expressions of art that use material from any kind of
sources forcing both creators and listeners to be denuded by locating and relating themselves through only a
single musical identity.
I see composition as a way of fusing conflicting musical elements; only from this positive value there is a genuine
and reflective progress of forward thinking.
Melodia del Mediterraneo fuse West and East through synthesis of Jazz-Rock phrasing and Byzantine modal
scales accompanied by revisited Latin-American and traditional rhythms from Morocco, beats from Hip-Hop and
Indonesian Dangdut. Each melodic phrase is a fragment from different genres assuming its own identity to a
whole unity solely because exists on its own, corresponding similarly to individuals that share our platform of a
poly-cultural social texture.

I imagined the Mediterranean Sea a unique basin at the center of the world witnessing for centuries great cultures
of the past, collecting and blending sounds, words, poems, legends until our present time.
I wish to dream the glorious ancient past of Alexandria, the mystic Istanbul, or the splendor of Venice jus to
name a few.
