1. Theme
What does sustainability (or sustain-ability) in Cupertino mean to you? Sustainability in Cupertino
—what is it? What does it (or should it) look like? Who’s involved? What are the benefits? We
present this broad scope to gather all of your ideas and feedback on what makes, or will make,
Cupertino a sustainable place to live.
3. Purpose
Cupertino is committed to maintaining our City as a sustainable place to live, learn and work for all
of our residents. To achieve this goal the City must balance its economic, social and environmental
goals to ensure the existing and future prosperity of our community, businesses and natural
resources. So the City invites you to join us to chart our course and track our progress to minimize
our environmental impacts and maximize our health and welfare as a single, unified community. We
are excited to learn how you envision a sustainable Cupertino through art.
4. Eligibility
In the spirit of sustainability, this contest will be focused on the City of Cupertino. Local artists
between the ages of 5 and 18 are encouraged to submit artwork to be showcased at an “eco-gallery”
hosted at the City’s FIRST Earth Day Festival on April 19th to be held at the Quinlan Center and
Memorial Park and in a city “virtual art gallery” within a sustainability section of the website, to be
launched in April.
5. Deadline
Please send or deliver your projects to the Earth Day Festival Art Program, City Hall, 10300 Torre
Avenue, Cupertino, CA 95014 by Friday, April 10th, 2009 for display at the Earth Day Festival eco-
