2 Description
In a cell with frequency hopping channels, TCH or SDCCH send and receive consecutive bursts on frequencies defined by a specific hopping sequence. Frequencies can be configured per cell, and groups of frequencies can be configured into channel groups. A channel group can contain up to 16 frequencies. For each channel group, frequency hopping can be configured as cyclic or random hopping. Only one cyclic hopping pattern can be defined. Random frequency hopping can be defined as one out of 63 possible hopping patterns. The configuration is done automatically, so that the actual available physical resources in a cell are matched against the configuration commands. The system returns the actual achieved configured resources, so that it is possible to check the result. There are two possible implementations in BTS, of connecting TRXs to the transmitting antenna: Filter combining with capacity of 16 TRX and Hybrid combining with capacity for 4 TRX. There are two possible implementations of frequency retuning between TDMA bursts in the BTS: Baseband or Synthesizer.

The possible configurations of equipment are the following: Table 1 Baseband Hop Filter Combiner Hybrid Combiner Allowed Allowed Synthesizer Hop Not allowed Allowed

3 Data Transcript Impacts

3.1 General
This function is implemented by administration command parameters for the cell and the TG.

3.2 Subfile 85xxx - Internal Cell Data, in Site xxx

The function should be defined and configured for a cell for each channel group by the command RLCHC.
RLCHC:CELL=KISTA3A, CHGR=0, HSN=1, HOP=ON; RLCHC:CELL=KISTA3A, CHGR=1, HOP=ON;

This example initiates frequency hopping for Channel Group (CHGR) 0&1 and sets the Hopping sequence number (HSN) for CHGR-0 to 1, and HSN for CHGR-1 will be generated randomly by the BSC.

3.3 Subfile 87xxx - TG Data, in Site xxx

The TG is configured to work with the frequency hopping method according to the possible options described in chapter 2.
RXMOC:MO=RXETG-3, FHOP=BB, COMB=FLT, RSITE=KISTA3;

This command associates the TG=3 to the site KISTA3. The TG will perform Baseband frequency hopping using a Filter type combiner.
