Spinning Mill Visit Fly Frame 1. Type of creel (Conventional or telescopic) 2. Drive to the creel (if present) 3.

Sliver feed condenser; the traverse motion and the drive for the traverse motion 4. Condensers in the middle zone; floating condensers (if present) 5. Bottom apron and tightening arrangement 6. Nose bar 7. Roller stand for the bottom rollers 8. Top and bottom roller clearers 9. Spinning triangle 10. Flyer details (observe how the material is threaded through the flyer); number of wraps on presser arm 11. Observe the flexible mounting of presser 12. Observe the drive to spindles and bobbin (open spindle rail box and bobbin rail box and observe the gearing) 13. Trace the drive from the main motor to various components (spindle drive; bobbin drive) to the extent possible (Be very careful while observing the running parts) 14. Observe the reversal motion Ratchet wheel Pinion wheel engaging with the toothed rack Bevel wheel engaging with the bevel wheel of the upright shaft Pulley and the dead weight Top and bottom cradles Observe how the toothed rack is inserted through the top cradle Observe the projection on the bottom cradle Observe the hammer Observe the springs Observe the pigeon catches Observe the set screws (a, b, c and d) Observe how the chains from bottom to top cradles are connected and the stoppers that rest on the bottom cradle Observe the pair of cone drums Observe the differential motion (if possible, after opening the differential motion box) Note the cone drum belt shifting rack; note how the belt on the cones is shifted after each layer is completed Note the slide in which the toothed rack is pivoted and observe how the toothed rack pivot is changed after the completion of each layer Note the direction changing lever connected at the bottom of the bottom cradle and how it changes the direction of bobbin rail Observe two or three cycles of reversal motion working closely 15. Note the drive to the bobbin rail movement (the rack and the driving arrangement Ring Frame 1. Observe the type of creel; observe how a roving bobbin is changed

2. Note the guide rod for guiding the roving to the drafting system (Note unwinding is side unwinding) 3. Observe the roving traverse motion and the drive to the roving traverse motion 4. Observe the drafting components (top and bottom rollers; top and bottom aprons); roller clearers; pneumafil suction pipe and suction box. 5. Observe how a machine operator threads the yarn through yarn guide and traveller 6. Try piecing a few broken ends (Observe how the machine operator does this) 7. Observe what is meant by ring flange 8. Observe in few spindles the balloon size; symmetricity of balloon; whether the balloon touches any part of the package 9. Observe whether the balloon retains the symmetricity from bottom to top of the ring rail traverse 10. Observe spindle gauging (spindle centring operation) done by a technician 11. Observe how the top arms are gauged (if possible) 12. Observe how the top roller settings can be adjusted (with the help of a technician, if possible) 13. Observe how the bottom roller settings can be adjusted ((with the help of a technician, if possible) 14. Observe the drive to the spindle (tin roller pulley; jockey pulley etc) 15. Observe the cop builder motion (particularly note the cam; the lever arrangements that connect the follower to the ring rail) 16. Observe the bolster and the top part of the spindle; see whether spring loaded buttons are available on the spindle top to fit the package tightly; note the taper of the spindle top part 17. Note the wharve and its shape; note the stopper which prevents the removal of spindle top part from the bolster 18. Observe the top part of the spindle by removing the top part 19. Observe how oil level in the bolster is measured (with the help of a technician) 20. Observe the doffing operation Note the underwinding coils (Coils wound at the bottom of the ring bobbin); see whether the bottom portion of the bobbin is rounded or conical Note how the full bobbins are removed and empty bobbins are inserted; observe how the continuity of yarn is maintained (without break) from doff to doff 21. Note the winding coils and binding coils; count the number of winding and binding coils in a chase 22. Observe whether winding and binding coils start from top or bottom 23. Observe the various types of travellers available in the factory 24. Find out how many travellers are packed per box of traveller box (how the number are represented) and the details given on the traveller box 25. Find out the Traveller Numbers that are used for various counts 26. Find out the spindle lift and the ring diameter used in the mill 27. Observe whether there is any roller lapping and observe how the roller lapping is cleared by the machine operator 28. Observe how the top rollers are ground (visit the cot buffing room and see how the cots are ground) and the machinery used for the purpose 29. Observe how the top rollers are given the varnish coating

30. Observe how the top and bottom aprons are replaced 31. Observe how a broken spindle tape is replaced; note the way the spindle tape is threaded over the pulleys and the spindle wharve; observe the spindle tape closely and find out the weave of the narrow width facbric (try)
