Important Information
System Requirements
Operating system: Windows XP, Vista or 7 Screen resolution: min. 1280 x 768 pixels Products: - .NET runtime modules 2.0 - Products from Microsoft Office >2000 (for outputting lists (reports, schedules) to Excel) If the setup program cannot find the .NET runtime modules and/or runtime libraries (vcredist_x86), it will offer to install them and you will have to perform this installation as User With Administrator Rights.

Windows Vista/7
To ensure that STRAKON will be able to run, the installation must not be made in the following paths: c:\Windows and c:\Programs.

Initial, Parallel and Update Installations

Initial installation If STRAKON is not available on the computer, or only in a version lower than 5.2, then an initial installation will be automatically performed. That is, unless a license has been enabled; it is automatically licensed for 10 days as a demo. After this, you can start STRAKON without a license in Viewer Mode. Parallel and update installation If STRAKON is available on the computer in a version 5.2 or higher and earlier than 2010, you can choose between a parallel or an update installation.

Parallel installation As an option, the settings of an installed 2010 version can be taken over. The following are taken over: Plotter/printer drivers and diversion files (not STRAKONs own files), tablet configuration, screen settings, layer sets, colors, editor settings, Excel template files, images from the template directory, input units, text modules, title block data, back-up file (secur.sic), settings for data export (PPC, BVBS, etc.), default sets, translation files for the DWG/DXF import/export, dialogue settings for back-up levels, element breakdown (all SYS files), settings for automatic snapping to points, einbau-s.dat for PPC export, definition files for design meshes and settings from Extras > Settings > Other. All files are copied locally into the 2011 version.

Update installation Select the version onto which you want to install the 2011 update. If your version is lower than 5.2, please request the STRAKON CD 5.2A, then conduct the update up to version 5.2A and restart the installation of the 2011 version. We recommend you perform the installation with the user-profile set as the Administrator or User With Administrator Rights. An update must be performed using the same user-profile as was used for the initial installation. DICAD Systeme GmbH

Version 2011

STRAKON
The chosen installation path must not contain any accented letters or special characters.

Perfect functioning is only guaranteed if the user is given full access to the installed directories and working directories of STRAKON.

Installation
1. Select the language and accept the license agreement. 2. Select the STRAKON product (only possible with an initial installation). 3. Select between Update and Parallel Installation. With the parallel installation, you can optionally take over the settings from the 2010 version.

4. If conducting an Update, select the existing version onto which the update is to be installed. As an option, you can delete the old program folder from the start menu. A new folder with the current entries is automatically created.

5. As an option, a link to STRAKON 2011 can be created for you on the desktop. 6. Continue by following the instructions in the installation dialogue prompts.

Walls
(not in STRAKONlight)

Changing the Position of the Wall Line Using Additional Key Combination
You can change the position of the wall line by pressing the B key (capital letter) or by using the keyboard shortcut Shift+ .

Wall Input Using a Rectangle

The selection of the wall input functions (see menu Draw > Building Components > Walls) has been brought together in the combo box and expanded by the addition of the Rectangle option.

This input function makes it possible to quickly and easily create a closed, rectangular wall polygon. In addition to stretching a rectangle, it is also possible to confirm the first point of the rectangle and then to immediately specify the size of that rectangle by entering the X and Y values, e.g. 150,500.

Individually Copy Wall Rectangle

Immediately after placing a wall rectangle in the drawing, you can copy it using the Edit > Copy Individually function.

Priority-dependent Creation of Wall Connections

In obvious wall situations (wall corners, wall intersections, etc.), you can define the automatically created wall connections in a priority-dependent manner, e.g. according to concrete grades. For this purpose, the Priority column has been added to the Extras > Material Administration menu.

DICAD Systeme GmbH

Version 2011

STRAKON

Part 2 Formwork

23

The higher priority decides on which will be the continuous wall, e.g.: Concrete grade C25/30 > Priority 60 Concrete grade C16/20 > Priority 20

Concrete grade C16/20 > Priority 20

Concrete grade C25/30 > Priority 60

Note: As alternative to repeatedly selecting the wall attributes via the Material Administration, you can also predefine frequently used wall elements and save them in the Accessories > QuickBox menu (see STRAKON Help). When taking over the wall elements into the QuickBox, the material and its settings are also saved with it. If the abutting walls are of different material and you change this to the same material, the wall connections must then be changed manually.

Freehand Lines
(not in STRAKONlight) Freehand lines are now entered by pressing the Alt Gr or Ctrl+Alt key and drawing with the left mouse key. When doing this you can also use all the familiar pointer commands, e.g. for zooming into the section, ending (terminating the function), etc.

Version 2011

24

New Features of STRAKON Version 2011

Multiple Lines
Parallel double lines and multiple lines can be entered quickly and simply either individually or as a polygon. These parallel lines can then be closed of at the ends if required, e.g. to form walls.

Double Lines
Two parallel lines are simultaneously drawn using the Double lines function.

In the additional function toolbar, select the line polygon, the line style and the pen weight, and also specify the input line (left, right, middle) analogous to the line/wall input. In addition, define the Spacing between the two lines. The Terminating line option for the two end faces allows closed building components to be displayed in the plan, e.g. walls etc. Line connections are automatically created at the obvious corner points of the lines.

Multiple Lines
The Multiple lines option allows you to create parallel lines simultaneously.

In the additional function toolbar, select the line polygon and, if necessary, the Terminating line option for the end faces. The clearance between the lines, the line style and the pen weight as well as the reference line for the position of the lines are all defined using the settings (>>).

Here, the reference line has the position 0.00, in the example this is the middle line. The position of all further lines is entered via the Clearance or the Position. The corresponding values are directly recalculated. Line connections are automatically created at the obvious corner points of the lines.

When entering the lines, you can change the reference line using the keyboard shortcut Shift+

Template

New Features of STRAKON Version 2011

(not in STRAKONlight) As design aid for the current editing, you can use Templates (drawing sections) either in the same drawing and/or from another drawing or a DXF/DWG file. Templates allow you to trace existing drawing elements such as lines, circles, rectangles etc., but not texts, dimensions and hatching. For this purpose, the drawing elements of the template are shown in only one pen weight and in the line style 1 and this cannot be changed. It is not possible to attach or link other elements such as reinforcement, hatching etc. to the template elements. Template New plan view

A template can be created and placed in the drawing either in reusable or temporary format (i.e. only created and placed once) or it can be directly placed from a DXF/DWG file. For the reusable format, select Create, define the template content and save it in a SCA file (*.sca). The name of the drawing is offered to you as a file name and the directory %strakon%\templates as the target directory. The placement of a template from a DXF/DWG file is a quick and easy input method and always includes all the drawing elements of the file (e.g. lines etc.), but there are no prior selection options. The conversion factor is fixed as 1. The placement of the template is done to scale but is independent of segment and layer, whereby you can optionally select a scaling factor, an angle of rotation and a different pen weight. After placement, you can move the template wherever and whenever you want using the Move Individually Free editing function. All the templates placed in a drawing are displayed in the list. After completing various drawing sections or the entire drawing, you can delete the previously placed templates either all in one go using the Delete all option or individually using the Delete Individually Free editing function. You can recall a deleted template using the Undo function (Redo/Undo).

Calculating the Overlap Lengths and Anchoring Lengths Using Formula

If the bar length in the main view (MV) exceeds the maximum bar length, the lengths of overlap or anchoring can also be calculated using the relevant variables (in a formula) in the reinforcement input modes Comfort or Quick. The following variables are available for this: lb = Lb,rqd le = LB,eq ld = Lbd,dir li = Lbd,ind l0 = l0 Example: Input: li + le - ld

MV, Present MV: Displaying the Reference Point

If you want to place the view of a piece of reinforcement into a drawing again (e.g. using the rebar function Present MV), the selection bar directly shows the relevant reference point, identified by a cross.

BR, MR: Switching off the Connection to a Reference Point

It is now also possible to place bar representations/mesh representations (BR/MR) without having a connection to the formwork (e.g. for placing in another segment). The size of the representation is automatically adjusted to suit the scale of the actual segment. The connecting link to the reference point is switched on or off using the Ref point option in the additional function toolbar. Alternatively, the connection can also be switched off via End/Continue during the reference point prompt.

Unlinked bar representations/mesh representations are given a virtual connection point (small circle = hook) on the bar starting point to facilitate further editing, e.g. position correction etc. >Reference point (switched on) Reference point (switched off)

MV/MR: Cut Bars in 1:1 Representation

In the 1:1 representation of main views (MV) and mesh representations (MR), the cut bars of the mesh are now also shown.

Depending on the chosen position (Left/Right looking towards the input line), the cut bars will lie inside or outside on the mesh bar. The amount of concrete cover is always maintained here. The arrangement of the cut bars corresponds to the specifications from the Mesh Administration and starts at the first polygon point of the mesh bar. Note:

The position of the cut bar (inside/outside) can be changed during the input using the Shift+

or Shift+B keys.

MV/MR: Bar Position in the Z-Direction

You can correct the bar position (Left/Right) in the Z-direction for the symbolic representation in the Mesh Representation (MR) and for the 1:1 display in the main view (MV) during the input by using the Left/Right option (toggle function), e.g. MR via bending shape (without MV):

Design Mesh
MV: New Polygon Inputs and Correction Options
(not in STRAKONlight) When inputting a new design mesh in the main view (MV), the layout and position of the cut bar are now directly shown for you regardless of the type of display (Normal, Rnd, 1:1) and then offered for correction. The initially displayed layout and position of the bar are a result of the specifications of the bar and mesh definitions.

Note: If the display type 1:1 is selected for this, then the cut bar will also be displayed in the finished main view (see previous explanations, page 34).

After selecting the bent wire (load-bearing/load-distributing wire, single/double wire, wire diameter), select the position of the cut bar (left/right looking towards the input line) in the additional function toolbar and enter the polygon, the mesh width, the type of display (in the example: 1:1) and the mesh definitions. The layout and the position of the cut bar can then be edited using the new correction bar. The arrow symbol shows the starting point of the bending shape.

Individually position, delete, insert For deleting, adding or moving the position of individual bars. Using the function Individually position, it is only necessary to input the distance (Attention: minus sign necessary for negative X or Y direction) in the selected input units (see Toolbar) measured from a formwork edge point or from an identifiable bar (via the Z key). The bar is automatically re-laid on the mesh wire.

If you additionally switch on the Distribute option in the additional function toolbar, the bar spacings will be retained and the overhangs will be uniformly adjusted. It is also possible here to enter quantity, spacing, whereby the bar laying is made starting from the first overhang, in the example 25,15 (cm)

Overhang The two Overhangs (O1, O2) at the start and end of the mesh are (in the input units shown) re-specified, in the example 10,20 (cm). The bar spacing is retained here, whereby the last cut bar may be omitted.

Mirror The laying of the cut bar is mirrored within the mesh, i.e. the laying direction is swapped over.

Original The laying of the cut bar is reset to its original status, i.e. to the specifications in the bar and mesh definitions.

Continue The correction of the cut bar is ended and the familiar design mesh editor is opened.

Item Corrections
Correcting the Item Number: Close Gaps

The mesh function now also allows you to close all the gaps in the item numbering for the current drawing in one step using the familiar Item correction > Item number. The items are renumbered so that each smallest free item is replaced by the next highest item number. Note: This correction can be reversed using the Undo function in the icon bar.

Set WCS Coordinates According to Accumulation of Drawing Elements

In many drawings the drawing elements are distributed over a wide area. Thus, for instance, the labelling of the coordinate origin point may be very far away from the building component elements of a plan view. When placing the file in the drawing, this results in a very large bounding box and it makes it difficult to define a conversion factor. If the options WCS in the segment origin and Set WCS coordinates according to accumulation of drawing elements are switched on, a small bounding box is created that only surrounds the building component elements of the plan view and omits the labeling of the coordinate origin which is far outside this box. No building component elements are left out. After completing the file import, all the elements, including those that were outside the bounding box, are displayed in the drawing.

Import DXF/DWG as Template

The Import DXF/DWG as template function in the File > Import / Export menu allows you to import a template into the drawing with all the familiar options of the DXF/DWG import. After selecting the DXF/DWG file, only those settings that are relevant for the template import are offered as active in the dialogue window:

The template is placed in the drawing as previously described (see Template, page 26).

Import Pixel Graphics

Proportional Image Dimensions with Drag & Drop
(not in STRAKONlight) After placing a pixel graphic in the drawing using Drag & Drop, as an option the image size can be scaled as required by defining the size proportionally using: Proportional.

This ensures everything is displayed correctly, e.g. special text characters.

Part 8 Data Export

Data Export to Priamos
The menu File > Interfaces > Priamos enables you to export your drawing data to the Priamos interface as a calculation file.

Specify the time point when the Priamos calculation file (*.dis) of the current drawing is to be created. In addition to the manual data export, it is also possible to export data automatically. The prerequisite for this is that the Calculation option in the Extras > Settings > Data export menu is switched on. A prompt regarding the data export is then given when the drawing is saved.
