As the mobility market continues to grow, network opera-

tors face major challenges to meet universal and often con-

flicting demands. On the one hand end users increasingly

ask for stable and mature GSM networks, on the other

hand the cost of ownership needs to be continuously opti-

mized to respond to spotless mobile service provisioning

requirements. The high installation flexibility and the

future-proof platform is the key to success which Siemens

eMicro BTS stands for.

eMicro Highlights

Future-proof, EDGE-prepared platform

Utmost flexibility due to modular concept

Multiple DCU dual carrier units

Ample varieties for anten- na combining and terres- trial interfaces

Product Profile

The Siemens eMicro platform is designed with future-proof

capabilities in mind. Thanks to its space saving dimensions,

operators benefit from major improvements not only in

indoor and outdoor site acquisi- tions, but also in addressing a wider scope of applications previously served by standard base stations. The eMicro BTS consists of dual carrier units (DCUs). With four carriers per cabinet (2 x DCU), single and dual band operation can be provided within the same cabinet.

The four carrier (master) cabi- nets can be further intercon- nected with another (expansion) cabinet to provide up to 8 carrier capacity per cell. The high out- put power of 8 W (at antenna connector) per carrier, the pre- paration for EDGE deployment and almost unlimited flexible combining solutions facilitate the use of the Siemens eMicro in a wide range of urban and rural applications. Dedicated combining options and various terrestrial interfaces can be added by stackable add-on modules to ensure the mini-

mum base cabinet volume. All add-on modules are fully inte- grated within the base cabinet. This paves the way for nearly unlimited use, at the same time simplifying future upgrades and allowing on-site maintenance.

The eMicro can be optionally expanded with boosters to serve for such applications that were only addressed by stan- dard types of base stations in the past.
