D.1.1 Intended audience
The intended audience of this document is FIDS Operators, Maintenance and System Supervisors of Indian Airports: Trichy, Nagpur, Udaipur, Vizag, Bhubaneswar, Goa, Gaya.

D.1.2 Software Prerequisites


The PAGE DESIGNER software is a Windows-based application running under Windows 2000 or later where an ORACLE Client 9i is already installed.

E.1 Introduction and Login


E.1.1 General characteristics of the application
The Page Designer software allows to define all layouts used on TFTs connected to Solari SKYWAY system. The GUI is an Client/Server Windows Application, installed on a workstation with an ORACLE Client 9i or later. The login into the Page Designer Application is handled by users/passwords managed by system administrator.

E.2.1 Edit layout
Edit Layout function is the main part of Page Designer Application and allows to modify the layout displayed on systems TFT.

E.2.1.1 Adding a new layout


To add a new layout press [+] button on Navigation Bar (see section E-1.1). Then insert the layout name and select the layout category (necessary to determine the dimensions of the new layout). The new layout will be empty.

To delete a layout press [-] button on Navigation Bar (see section E-1.1).

E.2.1.3 Editing a layout


To edit a layout the following steps must be performed: Select the layout from the list (left side of the window)

Press

button on Navigation Bar (see section E-1.1)

Double click on layout preview (right side of the window)

Press

button (or CTRL-F12) to activate the edit mode. The component

palette (with all basic tools to design the layout) will be displayed.

E.2.1.4 Copying a layout


To copy a layout from an existing one select the target layout and activate the edit mode. Then press [COPY FROM] button and selected the source layout.

Create or modify a layout means drag the basic components from the components palette to the new layout form. When a basic component is located on the layout form its properties will be displayed into the Object Inspector form. To move / resize a component object you can: Use the mouse. Modify the properties into the object inspector.

E.2.2.1 Object insertion


To insert an object you must select it from the component palette and click on the layout form: the selected object will be created with default dimensions and default name. Is very important, now, give a valid name to the new object, expecially in case of row object.

E.2.2.2 Object selection


To select an object you can: click on it select it from the object inspector (see section E-2.4)

The multi-selection is available typing SHIFT and clicking on different objects. To de-select an object / group click on a unselected object.

E.2.2.3 Object modify


To modify an object is necessary, first of all, to select it (mouse or object inspector). Then is possible to modify (dimensions, position, etc) using the mouse, keyboard (CTRL-arrows) or object inspector.

E.2.2.4 Object deletion


To modify an object is necessary, first of all, to select it (mouse or object inspector). Then is possible delete it typing DEL or CANC keys. If one object contains other objects all objects will be deleted.

E.2.2.5 Copy and paste


The default Windows keys CTRL-C and CTRL-V can be used for copy and paste operations.

E.2.3 Object types


The basic component objects belong to the following types:

Is the container of all other objects. The dimensions of a page object are related to the layout category. Page object properties are: Name: name of page object Color: background color of page object Duration: display time (in seconds). If 0 the related page will not be displayed.

E.2.3.2 Area object


This object represents the logical area of the layout and will be used, by the System Configurator, to display a particular set of flights (departure, arrival, etc). The area object, then, is the container for all the row objects (see section E-2.3.3). Area bject properties are: Name: name of area object Color: background color of area object Left,Top: coordinates (in pixels) of left-up corner Width,Height: area dimensions (in pixels) Align: area alignment inside the page: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. alNone: no alignment alTop: fixed height, the area will be anchored to the top part of the page. alBottom: fixed height, the area will be anchored to the bottom part of the page. alLeft: fixed width, the area will be anchored to the left part of the page.

alRight: fixed width, the area will be anchored to the right part of the page.

E.2.3.3 Row object


This object defines one logical row and can be created only within an area object. Properties: Name: name of row object. Is absolutely necessary that the name must be like Row1,Row2Rown, because the ordering of flight info is related to the row name (1 st flight on Row1, 2nd flight on Row2, etc). In case of different pages (i.e page 1 and page 2) the row names on the 2nd page must be consecutive: PAGE 1 PAGE 2 Row1 Row12 Row13 Row14

Color: row background color. Bborder: thickness (in pixels) of the bottom border. BColor: bottom border color (Bborder). Left,Top: coordinates (in pixels) of left-up corner Width,Height: row dimensions (in pixels) Snap: if enabled all row objects will be aligned to the grid created with the menu enabling with right mouse click.

E.2.3.4 Text object


Text object represents a text area inside a row object; normally this object is used to display one flight field (i.e. destination). Text object properties are: Field: source operational file field. Can be a virtual field too. Caption: if field property is empty represents the fixed text that will be displayed. Name: name of text object (must be unambiguous). Color: background color. Font: font properties.

E.2.3.5 Img object


The img object can be created only inside a row object and can be used to display an image inside the related field (i.e. airline logo).

E.2.3.6 FreeText object


Free Text object represents a free format area to display all messages created and scheduled with the Free Format application. Only one free text object per layout is handled.

Free Movie object represents a free format area to display all movies created and scheduled with the Free Format application. Only one free movie object per layout is handled.

The object inspector is used to examine and modify all object properties. Combo Box Properties List

The properties list contains name and type of selected object. In case of object multi-selection (SHIFT + mouse click) all common properties will be displayed and can be modified. On the color property is possible to define custom colors .
