to the release notes for Romanian Interface Pack for Microsoft(R) Windows XP Professional. This document provides late-breaking or other information that supplements the Windows XP Professional documentation. There are two release notes files on the Romanian Interface Pack compact disc: * Readme.txt (important pre-installation information) * RelNotes.txt (this file, compatibility and post-installation notes) ====================================================================== POST INSTALLATION NOTES ====================================================================== Not all User Interface strings are localized -------------------------------Some user interface strings remain in English even if Romanian Interface Pack is installed. User Assistance -------------------------------Romanian Interface Pack adds specific Romanian content to the Help and Support Center. Launch Help and Support from the Start menu and choose the Help in Your Language link on the top left of the window. Some components will remain in English after Romanian Interface Pack is installed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------Romanian Interface Pack does not apply to certain components of the operating system, some examples of these include: MSN Explorer Windows Movie Maker Internet Games NetMeeting Portions of Internet Connection Wizard HyperTerminal Advanced User and Settings components (e.g. MMC, Administrative Tools, Device Manager, etc.). Windows Activation (not all components listed here) Issues - General -------------------------------1. Some system wizards and dialogs may contain buttons such as OK, Cancel, Back, Next, Apply and Finish, that are in English. In places where this occurs, the actual text of the wizard or dialog may refer to these buttons in Romanian, e.g. although the Cancel button may appear in English, the text on the dialog may refer to the button with the equivalent Romanian word for Cancel.

Note: This may also occur in Help text. 2. Microsoft Internet Explorer may display some webpages, or webpage text, with unusual or garbage characters. This is because the Language Interface Pack installation does not change Internet Explorer Encoding settings to that of the language of the Romanian Interface Pack. To display all webpages and webpage text correctly for the installed language you must enable IE Encoding for that language in Internet Explorer. To do so: Launch IE On the View Menu select Encoding Choose the correct Encoding language setting for the installed language. 3. Outlook Express The User Interface language of Outlook Express will change only when the "Language for non-Unicode programs" matches the user interface language. The folders created in Outlook Express will not switch language. We therefore recommend that Outlook Express be setup after the preferred UI language has been set. 4. MMC: When saving an MMC console file, please use Latin characters only. Using characters outside the system code page will cause the help file not to display. 5. Narrator supports English only: Due to technological limitations, the Narrator Text-to-speech engine only works with English strings and the English User Interface. 6. The Communications shortcut on the Accessories Start menu and the HyperTerminal shortcut in the Communications menu revert to English strings when a new HyperTerminal connection is made. 7. Start menu items: If you upgrade from Windows 2000 to XP, you will have some items under Start menu that do not switch language. To fix this, you must set all the program folders under your personal document folder to READONLY. You can try the following commands to fix this: Start a Command Prompt from Start | Accessories or just type CMD.EXE in Start | Run dialog. The Command Prompt should start under your users document folder, such as C:\Documents and Settings\UserMe Type the following commands in Command Prompt: CD "Start Menu" CD "Programs" Attrib /s +r . (you need to apply this for all the folders under "Programs").
