Fixing Evans High

Senator Gary Siplin (l) listens as Orange County Public Schools Superintendent Ron-
ald Blocker makes a point during Monday’s meeting at the Educational Leadership
Center. The discussion was about Evans High School and the need to rebuild the cam-
pus. Siplin argued for a tighter time schedule on construction, with sooner rather than
later to be the driving force. School officials said that given financial resources and
the demands for a quality finished product, construction could take up to 36 months.
Among those also on hand were Congressman Alan Grayson, Orange County Cmmis-
sioners Tiffany Moore and Linda Stewart, School Board Member Kat Gordon, Sheriff
Jerry Demings, Police Chief Val Demings, and NAACP Pres., Rev. Randolph Bracy.
