Purpose and Objectives This class will focus on the basic understanding of 1, 2 and 3 point perspective, atmospheric perspective, freehand perspective, and lighting and rendering of forms. Students will develop the ability to create compositions with consistent eye levels, vanishing points and cones of vision. Students will be able to use these skills to draw subject matter receding in space in a logical way as it applies to Drawing, Illustration, Interior Design and Architecture

Course Distribution Week 1-2 3-4 5-6 7 8-9 TOPICS 1. Introduction to class. Pass out syllabi. Discussion of freehand perspective. Introduction to freehand perspective. Homework: Do freehand perspective drawing 2. Critique of Freehand drawings. Introduction to atmospheric perspective. Homework: Do atmospheric renderings 3. Introduction to 1-point perspective. Discussion of vanishing points, cone of vision, eye level, plans, etc. Homework: Do 1-point perspective drawings with boxes in cone of vision Prelim Examination 4. Continue 1-point perspective in relation to exteriors. Plus 1-point perspective with a vertical vanishing point. Homework: Do 1-point perspective drawing with a vertical vanishing point 5. Continue 1-point perspective in relation to exteriors. 6. Continue 1-point perspective. Lecture on Drawing to scale. Homework: Practice Scale Drawing Midterm Examination Midterm Project: Draw a room in one point perspective to scale with furniture. Critique Midterm Project. Introduction to 2-point perspective, interiors and exteriors. 7. Discussion of cone of vision, plan perspective and foreshortening. Draw basic interior and exterior in 2-point perspective 8. Introduction to 3-point perspective. Homework: Do 3-point perspective drawings looking up and down. 9. Introduction to fish eye perspective in 1-point and 2-point. Plus introduction to Final Project Homework: Draw fish eye studies in 1-point and 2-point perspective Begin Final Project- 2-point city Homework: Work on final project Final Examination: Final Critique
