Blue = 1 skein 3 buttons, half inch Gauge 12 sts = 2.5 inches 10 rows = 1.5 inches Abbreviations: K = knit P = pearl BO = bind off inc =increase dec = decrease MC = main color, azure CC = contrast color, lt. blue CC2 = second contrast color, buttermilk Back Using CC (lt blue) cast on 66 sts with smaller needles K1P1 ribbing for 5 rows In row 5 inc 6 sts evenly spaced: 72 sts Change to larger needles and begin stockinette stitch for pattern Pattern 16 rows: K 30 sts CC2, K 12 sts MC, (use 2nd ball) K 30 sts CC2 10 rows: K 14 st CC2, K 44 sts MC A, K14 sts CC2 24 rows: K 25 sts CC, K 22 sts MC, K 25 sts CC 10 rows: K 14 st CC2, K 44 sts MC, K14 sts CC2 16 rows: K 30 sts CCC2, K 12 sts MC, K 30 sts CC2 Last row right side, BO 9 sts, slip next 15 sts onto hold, BO all remaining sts Pick up 15 sts from holder, K seed st 2 rows Make three 2-st buttonholes across next row Seed st 4th row BO all sts

Front Same as back Begin neck shaping at the start of the last 16 rows of pattern K in pattern 32 sts, BO 8, K remaining 32 sts BO 3 sts neck edge next 2 rows (use two balls of yarn for each side) Dec 1 st neck edge next 5 rows K next 4 rows BO all sts both sides Sleeves Using CC and smaller needles cast on 30 sts K1P1 ribbing for 5 rows In 5th row inc 4 sts evenly spaced across = 34 sts Using larger needles, begin 44-row pattern While working pattern, inc 1 st each side every fourth row 8x = 50 sts 8 rows: K 12 CC2, K 10 MC, k 12 CC2 = 38 sts (will increase twice during this pattern = 42 sts 6 rows: K2 CC2, K 34 MC, k2 CC2 (will increase once during this pattern = 44 sts) 16 rows: k 13 CC, k 14 MC, k 13 CC Will end with 48 sts 6 rows: k 7 CC2, k 34 MC, k7 CC2 8 rows: k20 CC2, k10 MC, k20 CC2 Bind off last row Finishing Sew together left neck edge and right neck edge before the buttonhole Using CC, pick up sts along neck edge, including buttonhole tab. Keep open at buttonhole side. K 3 rows of seed stitch then bind off all stitches Sew together all seams Weave in all ends.
