Butthereismoreinthese"threemeasuresofmeal."Wehavethemintheparable(Matt13:33),pointingtoChristinallthe perfectionofHispersonandHiswork,whenHesaid,"Lo,IcometodoThywill,OGod."Therearedifferentopinions aboutthe"leaven,"butwhatisthe"meal."Thisisthepointonwhichtheinterpretationturns.Accordingtothepopular interpretation,thispure"meal"isthecorruptmassofmankind,andthedefiling"leaven"isthepureGospelofChrist!Was thereeversuchanexhibitionofman'sperversityincallingsweetbitter,andbittersweet?Wasthereeversuchaproofthat man'sthoughtsarecontrarytoGod's?No!the"threemeasuresofmeal"pointustotheperfectionsofChristandthepurity ofHisGospel.Andthehidden"leaven"pointsustoman'scorruptionoftheTruth.Acorruptionforwhichwehavetolook, notafterthethirdcentury,butinthe first!
