~ MESSAGE FROM MRS KENNAUGH ~
March is Reading Month is in full swing here at Beagle! Author Alan St. Jean conducted writing workshops with every Beagle student this week, two classes at a time. Students and staff enjoyed the visit because it built excitement for reading and writing and was entertaining as well! Thank you to our PTO for paying for his visit! Thank you for supporting our Time for Kids fundraiser by filling out postcards that will be sent to family and friends. Doing this fundraiser each year significantly decreases our Time for Kids costs and allows us to have multiple copies of this monthly, non-fiction text for each grade. If you have not yet turned in postcards, there is still time! Please send them to school with your child ASAP. Thank you! Our food drive begins on Monday with Protein & Peanut Butter day and continues with the following: TuesdayToilet Paper; WednesdayGift cards or checks to GLEAP; ThursdayPasta and Rice; FridayRaid the Pantry. I hope that our Beagle students and staff will contribute to this cause and help those in our community who are in need. As always, if you have any questions or would like to discuss any concerns, please contact me. SPRING BOOK FAIR SUCCESS!

A big THANK YOU to everyone that visited the Spring Book Fair. This is a great fundraiser for the library and it was a big success! We look forward to filling the library with the books your children love to read. Mrs. Jordan-Thelen POP CAN TAB COLLECTIONS Emma Rodeman, a 6th grader at Beagle, has been selected as a Student Ambassador for People to People Ambassador Program and will be traveling to England and France this summer to represent our community and our country. As part of being an ambassador they must participate in a service project. Their delegation has chosen, as part of their service project, to collect pop can tabs to be donated to Ronald McDonald House. She will be collecting these through April 19th. There will be a collection container in the office for these. Students may also give them to their teachers to be added to the collection. Thank you all for your support!!!!

GRASP SUMMER SCHOOL

(Grand Rapids Academic Summer Programs)

Are you looking for a summer school opportunity for your child? GRASP is an academic correspondence program in reading and mathematics for grades K-8. It is a cost-efficient substitute for traditional summer school. The program helps students retain skills learned during the school year. We are offering this program to Beagle students. Over the summer, your child completes materials and sends them in for scoring. The lessons should take your child approximately one hour per week to complete each weekly lesson. Look for order forms in your students Friday folder. Return forms and fees by April 12, 2013 All materials will be sent home with the child the last week of school. PTO NEWS Science Night has been scheduled for Friday, April 19th from 6:30 8:00 p.m.
