Acronal LN 838 S is a very versatile binder that can be used in a wide variety of applications. Its chemical composition is such that fabrics bonded with it remain very stable when they are exposed to heat. It can be used to bond nonwovens with a fairly hard handle that have excellent washfastness and excellent resistance to the solvents used in dry cleaning. We also recommend this product as a binder for coating woven, knitted and nonwoven fabrics.

Acronal LN 838 S is compatible: a) very good with the other anionic and non ionic polymer dispersions in our range. b) good with thickeners like Latekoll D, Collacral VAL and watersoluble cellulose derivatives. c) good with Urecoll and Saduren resins. d) good with Luconyl, Pigmosol and Helizarin pigments. Crosslinking: The films that Acronal LN 838 S forms by the evaporation of water are already partially crosslinked. The degree of crosslinking can be increased by heating them to a temperature of 150 180 C. Catalysts such as ammonium hydrogen phosphate or maleic acid can be used to increase the rate of the crosslinking reaction. Resistance to solvents: The films formed by Acronal LN 838 S are insoluble in water and most organic solvents once they have been crosslinked, but they do swell on solvation.

Processing

The exact specifications can be found in the specification data sheet.

Acronal LN 838 S can be applied by all conventional coating, wet impregnation and spraying techniques. It can be made into a foam by blowing or stirring in air. The stability of the foam can be enhanced by adding surfactants or thickeners.
