SUMMARY

HISTORY

The history of the business of our Group can be traced back to 1993 when our founder, Mr. Seah Liang Chiang founded the integrated AIDC solutions business under Digital in Singapore. Digital was set-up to distribute AIDC products. Mr. Seah has been in the AIDC industry for over 19 years and in the IT industry for over 21 years. He noted that business processes of various industries in the ASEAN region were heavily dependent upon manual data collection system which cannot produce critical data on time and which are laborious and as such prone to errors. With his business knowledge in this industry, he envisioned the promising prospects for the AIDC solutions business in the region to increase the efficiency of organizations. The current operation in Singapore functions as our Groups operational hub to secure projects that involve regional roll-outs in the ASEAN region. In addition, the targeted markets for our expansion will depend on and coincide with the movement of our customers which would allow us to penetrate into new markets with secure customers in hand and thus minimise the risks of uncertainty.

The Group aims to be the leading integrated AIDC solutions provider in the ASEAN region, establishing ourselves in the local market initially, using Malaysia and Singapore as the platform for future growth and expansion in the region, and other foreign markets.

NATURE OF BUSINESS

We deal in tracking solutions and identification in the area of bar code, radio frequency and ID card technologies to meet up with the increasing need of storing and tracking information from manufacturers, retailers and commercial sectors.

THE STARTUP THE VENTURE

For the first company, Mr. Seah Liang Chiang had to sell my car to raise some funds, use up my entire life savings of S$10,000 and borrowed another S$10,000 from banks. . After Mr. Seah walked away from my first company due to conflicts with my business partners, Mr. Seah Liang Chiang had had nothing at that time except for a huge debt of over S$100,000 and a load of disappointment and frustration. Mr. Seah Liang Chiang had manage to leave his past behind and started my current company- DSC by borrowing S$200,000 from a friend. Half of the amount was his investment and the other half was his personal loan from him. Seah Liang Chiang had started DSC with -S$300,000 in his hand.

OBSTACLES/CHALLENGES

Mr. Seah Liang Chiang had great difficulties when his started DSC both financially and emotionally. He was left deep in debt and almost went bankrupt. He didn't have the courage to face my parents and friends. He felt like a complete failure. At the cross-road, He knew, he had only two choices- to resign to fate and take on the stable career path, or go all out and try again. His philosophy has always been: 'Never say die' and his chose the latter.

Overcoming it emotionally was the biggest challenge. Besides, he had to make great efforts to convince his creditors to give him more time and to borrow more funds. Additionally, experience matters a lot when running a business; he have to admit that his made plenty of mistakes in the past and he is now happy that he make fewer mistakes due to the experience.

FACTORS OF THE SUCCESSFUL

When he almost went bankrupt, losing money was already an awful fact but it was not as serious as losing face. Asian people emphasize a lot on "face value". So the first thing that he had to overcome was to ignore and look beyond social expectations. The second thing was to chuck all morose and negativities which were enveloped his so that he could start afresh all over again.

He always believes that God is blessing his and behind Mr Seah successful there is a supportive wife. A harmonies family by his side making the company success- his wife and child, who are his greatest source of support.

He also believes that we must continuously upgrade and challenge him. We can't just depend on laurel as the world out there is always continuously advancing. So the moment we relax, we will lag behind. We should also unceasingly adapt and improve yourself by setting new targets and testing your limits continuously. Mr. Seah Liang Chiang finished 3 full marathons when he was 40, 41, and 42 and he did his first triathlon last year. He did it because his wanted to be better not only in business and in leadership but also in sports. We will never know what you are made of unless you try to push yourself beyond your limits.
