FEBRUARY 18, 2013 I. Objectives At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to: Identify the parts of a newspaper. II. Subject Matter Parts of the Newspaper A. Reference B. Materials Manila Paper Marker Newspaper III. Procedure A. Motivation Ask: What is this I am holding? (newspaper) Do you read the newspaper? How often? What newspaper do you read? B. Discussion Present and discuss the parts of the newspaper. Ask the pupils to name each part as presented. Front Page Editorial Page Sports Page Advertisement Page Entertainment Page Ask the pupils what information they get in each part of the newspaper. C. Generalization Front Page headline news and weather forecast Editorial Page Opinions of editorial columnists on current issues. Sports Page Latest news on sports Advertisement Page things for sale and jobs people can apply for. Entertainment Page articles and news about television, movie, celebrities, etc. IV. FEBRUARY 22, 2013 I. Objectives At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to: Locate parts and information from the newspaper. II. Subject Matter Telling What Kinds of Information Each Part of the Newspaper Contain A. Reference B. C. Materials Manila Paper Marker Newspaper III. Procedure A. Review 1. What are the different parts of the newspaper? B. Application Group the class into four groups. Let the class cut parts of the newspapers and label them. Label. After, let them assign a reporter to share to the class what kinds of information each part of the newspapers they pasted contains.

IV. Evaluation Show the class parts/sections of a newspaper. Let them identify which part of the newspaper the section showed belong. (5 pts)

V. Assignment Bring newspapers, scissors, bondpapers by group.

V. Assignment List 3 more other parts of the newspapers not mentioned above and what information they contain.

FEBRUARY 13, 2013 I. Objectives At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to: identify prepositional phrases in a selection. II. Subject Matter Prepositions and Prepositional Phrases A. Reference English Expressways Language Textbook, p.241-257 B. Materials Cartolina Manila Paper Marker III. Procedure A. Game Simon Says B. Discussion Show the class the italicized phrases used during the game on the board. Ask the pupils what they noticed about the phrases. Underline the prepositions in the phrases. Ask the class what the underlined words are. Remind the class that a preposition is a word that relates a noun or pronoun that appears with it to another word in a sentence. Ask the class when do we use at, on, in, to, into, from, between, among, beside, and off.

Generalization Tell the class when to use prepositions such as at, on, in, to, into, from, between, among, beside, and off.

Generalization Therefore, a prepositional phrase consists of a preposition, its object and any modifier of the object. Give more examples. IV. Evaluation Identify the prepositional phrase in each sentence. Write the prepositional phrase and encircle the preposition. 1. From the plane he could see the clouds. 2.
