Announcements will be made on signing-up. GRADING POLICY: Your grade will be computed as follows: Recitation 60% Finals 30% Attendance 10% When computing, the result will be rounded off to the closest 0.25. Any student with a grade computed lower than 3.0 will receive a 5.0. Grades will be sent via email to the email address you specify in the UVL. Absent any comments, grades will be posted on CRS after 48 hours from receipt via email. ASSIGNED TEXT: Notes and Selected Cases on Negotiable Instruments Law By Jose C. Campos Jr. and Maria Clara Lopez-Campos, 5th Ed. (1994). SYLLABUS: We will follow the outline of the assigned text. A list of relevant cases will be posted on the UVL. RECITATION: Students will be called on for graded recitation at every session. You may volunteer for recitation if you want. Should you be called upon and have no response, you will receive a grade of 5.0. If you are absent and are called on to recite, you will receive a provisional 5.0 for recitation which can be removed as discussed below. Your final recitation grade will be the sum of your grades divided by the number of times you recited (rounded off to the nearest 0.25). If your average recitation grade is lower than 3.0, it will be rounded off to 5.0. ABSENCES: University policies on absences will be applied. To be excused for an absence (and to remove a provisional 5.0 for recitation or a weekly quiz), the student must at the beginning of the class where she attends for the first time after the absence, present the following: (a) the excuse slip form used by the OCS duly signed by the College Secretary; and, (b) supporting documents to establish the excuse (medical certificate, etc.). The merit of each case will be considered. Absences with documentation will not automatically be excused. NOTIFICATIONS. Class announcements will be coursed through the course site on UVL or through your class representatives (whose receipt confirmation of messages will be binding upon you).
