Health Services Research Network Symposium 2013

3-4 June 2013, venue tbc The Health Services Research Network Symposium, now in its sixth year, is the fields premier knowledge event. It features presentations and discussion at the leading edge of UK and international health services research. Building on a very successful event in 2012, the Symposium will again bring together researchers, practitioners, senior managers and policy makers. CALL FOR ABSTRACTS You are invited to submit abstracts for presentation and/or poster display. THEMES We are keen to receive abstracts on the following:

Patient experience Workforce Leadership and organisations Methods research Commissioning Access and equity of services Keeping people out of hospital Self-care and self management Quality and safety Productivity Innovation and knowledge translation Improvement Science

The Health Foundation invites abstracts on the theme of Improvement Science, that is new approaches to achieve measurable and timely improvement in care processes; development of the underlying theory and evaluation of methods to improve quality, safety and value; implementation of evidence-based healthcare. The HSRN welcomes submissions relating to both quantitative and qualitative research and embraces work across all health care professions including nursing, pharmacy, medicine, management, physiotherapy, midwifery and all relevant disciplines including sociology, economics, epidemiology, health policy, statistics, psychology, history.

The scope of the Symposium covers all aspects of services including primary care, community care, social care, hospital care, health promotion and disease prevention, through curative services to long-term, rehabilitative and custodial care. SUBMISSIONS The deadline for submission is Friday 8 March 2013. Abstracts must conform to the following requirements: Include a short title (up to 20 words) and the authors names (asterisk the presenting author). Titles may be edited for the event programme. Maximum length - 250 words. Structured: background/objectives, methods, results, implications. Include presenting authors contact details including name, job title, institution, email address. Indicate if the abstract is for presentation and/or poster display.

SELECTION Abstracts will undergo peer review and successful applications will be included in sessions with distinct themes. Authors will be advised by email of acceptance or non-acceptance of abstracts by early April 2013. Accepted abstracts will be published online. All presenting authors should register for their attendance at the event.
