RE:

SEIU 1000 Financial Transparency Audit

Dear Paul Harris: As you well know on December 17th, 2012, we requested that SEIU 1000 face its acute Financial Transparency problem in a reasonable fashion. For your convenience, a copy of that letter is attached. We asked for a response in seven (7) days. Now, over a month have passed and no response. As you know, as members we have a right to a transparent union; we pay our dues and simply want to know where our money goes. SEIU 1000s refusal to even communicate with its members on the subject of Financial Transparency is deplorable and difficult to understand. The only logical conclusion is that SEIU 1000 is hiding something. Is it the misappropriation of millions of dollars? We dont know, but we are going to continue to find out. Please, for the sake of all SEIU 1000 members, come clean on this matter. Grant our requests and respond promptly. To reiterate, we need: 1. All the financial information on your 2010 IRS 990 expense report by category 2. Sufficient time to review the data 3. The right to have financial professionals present 4. The right to copy and publish our findings good or bad 5. A copy of your 2011 IRS 990 Form, which should have been available for viewing by the public long ago, but as of the date of this letter, is not Otherwise, Financial Transparency will never be achieved short of court action. Surely, Financial Transparency can be achieved voluntarily. If not, the veil of possible financial impropriety will continue to hang over the head of SEIU 1000 like a dark cloud. SEIU 1000 has the power to penetrate this dark cloud with rays of sunlight by granting our transparency requests. We will do the rest. Hopefully, SEIU 1000 will rethink this matter and grant our requests. SEIU members deserve nothing less.
