CRYOGENIC SUPPORTS

Section 1

Introduction
Our Competence is underpinned by Torgy Alantic Ltd, the UK based Division of Torgy Mek that specialises in the design and maerials Technology for Thermal Insulation & Thermal Isolation for Pipe & Vessel Supports. Thermal Insulation Cryogenic Pipe Supports (including PUF): Used where Process temperatures need to be maintained with a minimum Heat Gain.

Thermal Structural Isolation Breaks for Hot & Cold process Pipelines & Vessels. Used where Process Temperatures on Hot or Cold Process Pipelines & Vessels need to be isolated from supporting steel structures for personnel protection or to allow lower grade structural steelwork to be used. [These materials are structurally stronger than Insulation materials but have higher thermal conductivity].

Marketed under the Globally recognised Atplas & ASEplas brands, Atlantics materials have been used in Piping & Vessel applications around the World for over 30 years without any reported failures. This includes high humidity environments where laminar wood materials are susceptible. Its portfolio includes PUF, and related fabrications required for major LNG, LPG and similar projects around the World.

Thermal Insulation
Cryogenic Supports (thermally Insulating) For use on LNG, LPG and similar processes where thermal efficiency & minimal process heat gain is required. To help satisfy the Worlds ever increasing demand for Liquefied Gas Products, The Torgy Group has a State of the Art PUF Design & Manufactre Facility, utilising 3D Finite Element Thermal & Stress Analysis and CNC controlled Moulding & Machining Technology, to support its impressive Portfolio of Pipe Support Products & Services.. Over 30 Years of experience in moulding for the Worlds Oil & Gas projects ensures a competence in PUF moulding to provide our clients with a competitive premium quality product by combining high quality polyurethane materials with CNC dispensing technology and precision mould tools to produce an optimum density moulding. Utilising Innovative Moulding Technology, this state of the art facility starts at the tool design stage where all steps and joint lines can be included as an integral part of the mould if allowed by project standards. Unlike conventional monolithic moulding, our innovative high precision tooling technology has been developed to overcome the need to cut at the centre line, thus maintaining the integrity of the all important moulded skin, and ensuring consistency. The moulding is far superior to all other forms of PUF that utilise cutting as some part of its process, providing assurance to our clients with cradles that: Provides clean, sharp edges that fit neatly with the adjacent pipe line insulation Produces a closed cell foam structure that provides optimum mechanical strength and resistance to moisture ingress Produces monolithically moulded segments ensure that the full clamping force exerted by our dynamic clamping system is transferred through to the pipe, giving better resistance to both axial thrust and torsion. Provides higher cryogenic thermal stress/shock resistance than cut from Bund types Provides consistent dimensional tolerance Maintains dimensional stability throughout the full range of service temperatures from -385F/-196C through +212F/+100C Ensures no cutting & machining to achieve longitudinal gap required for operational expansion & contraction. Assured by 3D finite element thermal analysis whichallows the verification of PUF shoe thickness selection.

Pipe Supports For High Temperature Insulation +1000C

We have a range of specially formulated inorganic calcium silicate & foamglass materials suitable for the thermal isolation & insulation of high temp pipelines. Special consideration of the design application of these materials is essential as they are generally less tolerant of excessive dynamic loads than our range of organic materials, which are suitable for temperatures up to 160C. Pipe Supports for Hot (+160C)& Cold (-196C) Applications ASEplas 1010 is a range of organic glass-reinforced polyester composites commonly used in thermal isolating support systems. They have an excellent track record supporting cold pipes and vessels in oil, gas, petrochemical and pharmaceutical plants worldwide. These materials were formerly known as ATPLAS. The ASEplas 1010 range has an advantage over many materials available in that they are mouldable and can be produced in a wide variety of shapes with properties that are basically non-directional. The materials have excellent fire safety properties; they are not easily ignitable and have a very low flame spread therefore on site welding can be safely carried out adjacent to an ASEplas support. Unless otherwise stated, all dimensions are in millimetres. Insulating blocks are constructed from ASE plas1010 SWA material. The block material has a temperature range -196C to +160C continuous and the supports have an effective K value of less than 0.5 W/mC. The standard range loads are quoted at 25C and should be derated linearly with temperature to 50% at +160C. No reduction in strength occurs below +25C. Safe working load vertical refers to a downward load only, for a vertically upward load please consult Atlantic Supports Engineering. Base plate to be carbon steel BSEN 10025:1993/S275. The dimensions and material of the base plate can be varied to specific customer requirements. Top plate to be low temperature carbon steel or 304 stainless steel to match specification of the pipe or to specific customer requirements. Blocks must be supported over at least 30% of the base.

Block and plate dimensions can be varied as required.

Under Pipe Supports Application: An anti wear support and isolating block fitted between pipe and pipe rack to prevent corrosion caused by: Wear from thermal movement Galvanic action between dissimilar metals Moisture build up Background: The under pipe support was designed in consultation with piping/corrosion engineers to provide a simple, inexpensive, easy to install means of protecting process pipes on pipe racks. The simplicity and effectiveness of this product has produced rapid acceptance by piping engineers who recognise it as an effective means of eliminating pipeline corrosion problems and expensive maintenance. Three versions of the Under Pipe Support have been developed to suit a wide range of conditions, pipeline temperatures and client preferences: Type A Factory fitted narrow strip of adhesive for initial bonding during installation. Secondary adhesive to be applied according to clients requirements. Type B Factory fitted with full width of adhesive. Type C Supplied without adhesive for fitting using clients choice of adhesive. Type B products are intended for use where the primary objective is to provide an anti galvanic corrosion barrier between the pipe and the pipe rack and where only slight and/or infrequent movement between the pipe and rack is anticipated. For general use where frequent and or significant movement between pipe and rack is anticipated we recommend the use of Type A products with the specified secondary adhesive system. Temperature range: The basic UPS shoe is continuously rated for use at temperatures between 196C and + 160C. The adhesive pre-fitted in types A and B is continuously rated from 35C to +95C with intermittent excursion to +150C. For applications in which the pipe temperatures lie outside those of the built in adhesive type C units should be specified with an appropriately rated adhesive.

Isolating Supports for Cold Vessel Platforms & Ladders

Background: Atlantic Supports Engineering has collaborated with vessel and civil design engineers to offer solutions for combined structural and insulation requirements. Discussions with leading petrochemical designers led to the design of the cold vessel platform bracket for ethylene towers enabling them to use carbon steel platforms (instead of stainless steel) giving considerable cost savings and other benefits. Involvement with many projects at the design stage has led to orders for a range of custom designed solutions for vertical and horizontal vessels, tanks and columns. Product benefits: Increased use of lower cost carbon steel in place of stainless steel. Ice build up is reduced, hence the ladders and platforms are safer to use. Improved Vessel Efficiency.
