Assalamualaikum Wr.

Wb Good morning everybody, yesterday, when I saw a news on television, I heard nowadays most of school that use computers and internet by students is commonplace and begins early. Even more, in upper grade levels, nearly all students use computers and a substantial majority also mandatory for using the Internet, no wonder because Over the last ten years, the Internet has emerged as an important communications medium for both professional and personal usage. It means that the use of internet for children become so necessary a little by little. In fact, we cant denied that when the children open the web site, they will also definitely open the social networking site because I believe social networking on the Internet has become increasingly popular, especially among children and teenagers. According to a new national survey of teenagers by the American Life Project, update on October 6th, 2009, Eighty-seven percent of 12- to 17-year-olds, or about 21 million children, use the Internet, and more than half of them use social networking sites. Although there is no officially declared rules for having a social networking for children, I strongly believe, networking online by parents supervision will offers kids many benefits and automatically will reduce some frightening stories about kids at risk online. Basicly, a child is anyone who has not yet reached their 18th birthday and
social networking is the term used to describe the acivity of networking through social

sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Linked In. Social networking Web sites such as MySpace and Facebook encourage people to create and share their own online identities and profiles, which can include personal information, photographs, blog entries, video, podcasts and music clips. Nowadays, children's lives are very different from what parents were 20 years ago. Social networks are a way of creating a social bond. With all the frightening stories about kids at risk online, is there any good news? Yes. In fact, According to www.kidsenabled.org there are many benefits for kids networking socially online, and they are :

Practicing social skills. Kids get a chance to meet all kinds of people

online. Because socializing via technology isnt as immediate as face-to-face interactions or telephone conversations, kids have a little more time to think

about a situation before they respond. This is an opportunity for them to experiment with greetings, responses, etc.

Defined/guided

social

interaction. While

online

communication technologies increasingly allow for freeform interaction, social interaction can be narrowed (for purposes of scope and safety). Some examples of focused interaction online include buddy/friend lists, moderated themed chatrooms or message boards and, for younger children, the opportunity for parents to help a child by typing or reading along some of the time. This can help children build skills and confidence that will increase their independence as they mature.

Identity group. A child can create an online identity that is describe

what he interested in, for example, if the children love playing football, they can also find a peer group online that have the same hobby with them, and furthermore they can talk each other and sahre about their hobby.

Frequent

use

of

existing

and

emerging/changing

technologies. Technology is evolving faster than ever before. As children learn to adapt to new technologies (or new applications of existing technologies), they will be better equipped to adapt to future technology. This will help them quickly assess the risks of communicating through these new methods and adapt their behavior to maintain control over their own safety. Parents who are allowing their children to go online do have a responsibility to at least try to educate their kids about the perils of self-revelation and over-reliance on social media, Dr. Megan Moreno, an adolescent medicine specialist, says that instead of parents being wary of social networking sites, they should instead take advantage of them to learn more about who their kids are talking to-and also use them to learn more about their kids. Parents shouldnt feel any hesitation at all about going to MySpace, Facebook, and other social networking sites to see if they can find their childs profile posted online. There is one thing most experts agree on: when it comes to teaching kids to use the Internet safely, nothing can take the place of good parent-child communication. Its important for parents to explain to their kids how certain behaviors can lead to problems (such as giving out personal

information, meeting people offline or not critically analyzing the validity of a persons identity or information presented on a Web site). In conclusion, I believe that networking online by parents supervision will give a great number of benefits, because social media is the rock n' roll of the early 21st century. therefore, parents who want their kids to learn about the world have a responsibility to allow them to be on social networks, but, dont forget to educate your children about the world, and yourself about the technology. It is part of our world. Use the social networking healthfully appropriately and so will the kids. Thats all from me, thank you
