Instruct the patient to take a deep cough from the chest and place sputum in sterile container.

Luki Trap

Luki trap set. Call Respiratory Therapy for set up.

Assemble equipment Holding luki trap upright with one hand insert suction catheter through noxe, into pharynx and aspirate specimen. If specimen is not enough to collect in the luki tube, dip suction catheter in syringe for normal saline until specimen is flushed through tubing. Discount suction catheter and suction tubing and connect rubber tubing to arms of luki trap Have patient defecate into I&O hat. (Not provided by laboratory) Use wooden sticks to place stool in sterile container Follow the Urinalysis MSCC procedure or collect by sterile process from a catheter
