(Decision Support System & Management Information System)
Course Code: CP - 302 Faculty Ravi Lakhani The Course Objectives This course is to acquaint students with the conceptual foundations of decision support system of the artificial intelligence for business organization. Suitable Cases will also be discussed as per need of the topic. To understand fundamental terms, concepts associated with DSS Case studies To document IT support/infrastructure for organizational decision making, and various planning, analysis and control tasks. To develop skills in the system analysis & design and implementation of computerized DSS. To understand that most Decision Support Systems are designed to support rather than replace decision makers Course Pre-requisite: Fair idea of Computers, Information Technology, Managerial Decision Making, etc Working knowledge of computers & other tools like MS Excel, etc Each student is expected to actively and constructively participate in class discussions Teaching Pedagogy: Combination of lecture, open discussion, computer lab assignments, and students group presentation Pedagogy will focus on developing the visualization for Information Systems in terms of its use and the impact it can bring to an organization from a management perspective. Simulations/Clips/Scenarios on MIS /ERP systems from different ERP providers including Open Source and other packaged information systems shall be used to enhance the visualization Cases - list of cases and specific references including recent articles will be announced in the class Evaluation Pattern: Assignments- 15% Presentation- 15% Term End Exam-50% Session /contact hours- 35 Sessions Attendance- 10% Class Performance- 10%
