THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

This month, I am preaching a series that I have entitled: All About Jesus. We are going to study five truths about Jesus to illustrate He is the great I AM. Heres what we plan to study: March 3: I AM the Bread of Life (John 6) March 10: I AM the Light of the World (John 8:21) March 17: I AM the Good Shepherd (John 10:11) March 24: I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6) March 31: I AM the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25) I want to encourage you to read the above passages before each Sunday in preparation to our time together in worship. To accompany the theme of this sermon series, I thought it appropriate to have you commit to prayer a list of attitudes on the theme of, Because of Jesus, I AM. As you read the phrase for each day, pray about it and claim it. Allow the phrase to impact your life for that entire day. I wonder just how much this may change you and your church because we think positively about the life we live in Christ. Take the challenge! Enclosed, you will find a list to stick on your refrigerator or in your Bible. Have a great day! Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

HOPPERS CONCERT: We still have some tickets remaining for this March 23 concert at Ohio Christian University, in Circleville. This gospel concert features The Hoppers, The Guardians and The McCrary Family. A sign-up sheet is posted. Tickets are $15 per person. We have just 11 tickets available. Due to our cash commitment, I will need your payment when you sign up. (The planned time for our departure will be posted in this spot next week.)
SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY:

We are continuing our series of lessons titled, Friends of Paul. Each of the lessons will be based on a friend of Paul. This week, March 3, we are examining, Mark, The Restored. On March 10, it is James, The Lords Brother and on March 17 we will take a look at Titus, The Troubleshooter. If you are not involved in a small group, on Sunday evenings, I encourage you to join us. Communion is available for those who desire. Once again, I remind that we now have activities for children each Sunday evening. WEDNESDAYS: The book of Ephesians is the focus on our current study. Each of our study groups, meeting at 10:00 am and 6:30 pm cover the same material. This week, February 27, we will be looking at chapter 6. Why not join us? FINAL THOUGHT: Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that people who have the most of them live the longest.

Last week in Childrens church we learned about listening to God. We read about a man named Moses who received a great message from God. God used Moses to do amazing things. God can also use US to do great things! Keep your ears and eyes open to messages from God. He can use each and every one of us! God said to Moses: Now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt. But Moses said to God, Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt? And God said, I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain. Moses said to God, Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they ask me, What is his name? Then what shall I tell them? God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you. Exodus 3:10-14. Hannah

SCOTTS THOUGHTS
We live in a time where change takes place at a rate few of us could have imagined even a few years ago. Sometimes that change is difficult or uncomfortable. At times it may even seem unnecessary and even frightening or impossible, but many years ago I was taught when you know your why, you will find a way. Let me share with you the why: The purpose of the church is to glorify God and to expand His Kingdom. At this time, we offer three worship services that bring honor and glory to God, but we have room to grow in evangelism. Our goal is to make disciples and equip them to make disciples until the whole world knows Jesus. This is not going to happen through a new worship service, or paint, or a special program. Those are simply tools. The potential to reach our neighbors, our community and our world comes from all of us being committed to sharing Jesus with everyone we meet and making Jesus our priority. In the coming weeks you will be hearing and seeing more about the transition of the second service into the basement. We need much prayer and mission minded thinking in this process. We have need of some people proficient in woodworking to assist with some construction projects, others that are skilled with craft oriented projects and artistic design. If you would like to volunteer some time and assist, that would be much appreciated. If you have questions or concerns, Id love to sit with you and hear your thoughts of how we can better carry the gospel to the world around us. Above all, I would ask for your prayers and support as we seek to glorify God and expand His Kingdom.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Sermon Notes ________________________

________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ _________________________________________ _____________________________________

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
