MARCH 2013 Volume 4

From Our Principal

Dear Bailey Lake Families, February provided an opportunity for our staff, to once again, connect with our community in a supportive manner. Each day, staff members participated in a Casual for a Cause program to assist others in various ways. Throughout the four weeks of February, staff members have contributed by providing school supplies to an elementary school in need, expressing Random Acts of Kindness to others, providing food donations to the Lighthouse of Clarkston, and a financial donation to the pediatric unit of St. Josephs Hospital. The Fall 2012 MEAP (Michigan Education Assessment Program) results have been released. Below are the scores for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, as well as, local, county and state comparisons. Parents of students that participated received individual reports home on February 22.

A Good Deed!
The 2nd Grade Brownie Troop #74446 decided to put their cookie sales money to good use this year. They are donating a portion of their profits to A Space to Dream, a local charity organization that helps kids in crisis and need. After learning more about the organization through Tricia Delude, Founder and President of AS2D, the girls decided they wanted to be involved. They are very excited to be following in the footsteps of the BLE staff who designed and completed a room last summer. Great way to be bucket fillers, girls! The Troop: Teagan Brandenburg, Lindsey Darnell, Kayla Haddad, Reagan Hakala, Micaela Hohlbein, Emily Jackson, Clara Kociba, Lily Kurmaniak, Emma Larkins, Megan McLain, Yasmine Ofiara

Make sure to stop by The Dawg House BLE school store, sponsored by the BLE student council. We are open Monday, Wednesday and Fridays before school.
