READYMADE STEEL INDIA

Low cost, high benefit

Prefabricated steel concept having already caught on is now being used in commercial and residential projects and various infrastructure works like the metro/mono-rail, bridges, highways, power plants, etc. Readymade Steel has emerged as the best solution for all reinforcement hiccups.

advantage and that catapults us to the leadership position.

n-site assembling and fabrication, inaccurate dimensions and improperly bent bars, slow pace of work progress due to conventional manual labour deployment, cost over-runs and many such hurdles have been impacting the construction and infrastructure sector, where delays have a direct bearing on project costs. In order to surmount these impediments, the use of ready-to-use-steel has been introduced that eliminates vast logistical processes by reducing construction cycle time, saving labour costs, reducing the hassles of inventory management, achieving zero percentage of scrap, offering absolute ease of operations. Prefabricated or Readymade steel (RMS) is a customised cut and bend reinforcement steel ranging from a diameter of 6 mm to 40 mm that uses state-ofthe-art automated shearing lines and computerized stir-up making and bending machines that helps achieve product quality and efficiency, says Mr. Anil Agrawal, managing director, Readymade Steel India Limited (RMSIL), adding, Although the concept of prefabricated steel was prevalent in many parts of the world, it was not as widely known here in India. We take pride in being one of the pioneers of the concept of Readymade steel in the country. RMS helps eliminate construction woes with a technology that is advanced and effective as it ensures fast-track construction, controls material wastage, decreases manpower involved and contributes to higher productivity at site installation, informs the alumni of Sydenham College. He continues, Large entities are our clients as our concept and products help in better site co-ordination and control, relieves site congestion and minimises storage costs, reduces site pilferage, aids in quick response time, improves construction cycle and above increases profitability. The merits of the novel concept has gone down well with major construction companies like Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Nagarjuna Construction Company, Lodha builders, Simplex, Kanakia, Oberoi builders etc which have placed orders with RMSIL to supply ready-to-use steel products for their construction needs. RMSIL has also supplied ready-to-use steel to major projects including the Mumbai Mono Rail project, Sahar Elevated Access Road-Mumbai, Nasik Elevated Corridor, Palais Royale-Mumbai, to name just a few. Already having an installed capacity of 27000 MTPA for processing steel used in the construction industry, primarily reinforcement bars into various shapes and sizes like cranked bars, stirrups, verticals, column/beam cages etc, RMSIL is planning to expand capacities further at its Khopoli plant and establish new facilities near New Delhi and Raipur. Both the new plants will have installed capacities of 50,000 tpa each. We foresee increasing demand in view of the growing infrastructure development activities that are taking place in Mumbai and neighbouring regions and hence propose to expand our facility to 90,000 tpa from 27,000 tpa. After expansion, we will reach 160,000

tpa capacity by 2012-13, smiles the Masters in Management Studies from the Mumbai University. Our product offerings are aimed at overcoming time and space constraints during construction process as our steel processing through automated machines helps manufacture prefabricated cages and cut and bend steel rods that are uniform in size and shape as also faster in production, points out the 35-years old promoter who has over a decade of experience in the steel and infrastructure industry. With a glint of optimism, Mr. Agrawal reveals, The increasing significance for better infrastructure has prompted the government to initiate pro-active measures for construction across various segments, Also, the growing emphasis on construction activity can be gauged from the fact that it accounts to around 60-80 per cent of the total project cost in which construction material comprising steel, cement, construction equipment etc account to about two-third of the

average construction cost. RMSIL is poised to take a big slice of the various development projects lined up including the Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project at an estimated investment of Rs. 2647.58 crore; Mumbai Metro Rail at an estimated investment of Rs. 19,525 crore, Skywalks in Mumbai Metropolitan Regions at an estimated investment of Rs. 607.21 crore and Monorail System at an estimated investment of Rs. 2716 crore. Also, the estimated investment of Rs. 15,000 crore for the NCR Regional Plan-2021 and the Global City in Rajasthan subregion of NCR at an estimated investment of Rs. 54,055.20 crore as also the estimated investment of Rs. 1715.48 crore for the Raipur Development Plan-2031 Transport System, are on the companys radar. With robust year-to-year sales increasing from Rs. 123.64 lakh in FY2008 to Rs. 450.69 lakh in FY2009 soaring to Rs. 3223.82 lakh in FY2010 reaching Rs. 6690.40 lakh during the second quarter of fiscal 2010-11, RMSIL is entering the market with an Initial Public Offering of Rs. 62 crore. Our ideology persuades us to constantly improvise our production process, marketing strategies and client satisfaction, aiming to provide the best products and services. There is continuous R&D of existing technologies and that of possible new introductions. In keeping with our mantra of constant evolution in all spheres, we shortly intend to introduce the welded wire mesh, divulges Mr. Agrawal, adding, We have a team of engineers and technicians who ensure the well defined process flow is strictly adhered to for delivering high quality products well within the stipulated time. He concludes, We have the first mover advantage and that catapults us to the leadership position.
