Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus. February is upon us and with it comes thoughts of Valentines Day. I hope you are all preparing to attend our Valentines Banquet honoring our full-time volunteers. It will be February 15 @ 6:30 pm. We will have great food, fellowship, and a good time as we honor all those who make our fellowship a success by giving so generously of their time and energy. We encourage you to invite your special valentine and join us for a delightful evening, courtesy of The Open Door. Reservations are required, though, as we need to know how many for which to
prepare. Call 337-981-6438 or email mhernandez@opendoorla.org. We usually think of love when we speak of Valentines Day. Most of us have at one time or another given or received a valentine from somebody. We usually keep the best one for that really special somebody. We hope he or she appreciates our expression of love and secretly wish that the love will be returned. Many of us, however, have been crushed when our affections are not returned or acknowledged. We are told in scripture of Gods great love for us. He
has sent us, as it were, a valentine, a special invitation telling us of His love. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Whoever believes in Him will never perish but will have eternal life. (Jn 3:16) Come unto me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Mt 11:28) What joy to be able to give us something that we could never earn or gain on our own. As we grew up, perhaps we observed that there were those who did not receive as many valentines as others. It seems that there were those who everybody wanted to have
as a valentine and yet, others looked on with disappointment as they were passed over and not picked to be somebodys special valentine. Many were left with feelings of rejection or inadequacy because of a simple paper valentine that didnt arrive. The glory of it all is that Gods invitation goes out to everyone. Whoever includes you, me, and all who would believe. His invitation is not just on one day of the year. Its every day, in all the world, through all the ages; God gave His Son that whoever believes may have eternal life. What a wonderful message! What a wonderful gift! What a wonderful invitation! Believe. Receive. Trust. Come. Of all the invitations one could receive, there is none greater than the invitation to come to Him, all of us who are weary and heavy laden with sin, confusion, doubt, despair. He promises rest relief for the weary soul. Yet, there are those who still have not heard, who still have not recognized that they have received the valentine card of their life. The invitation that heals all their sin, all their rejection, all their hurts has been sent, with their name on it, and yet they do not know. We will gather on Friday, February 15th for a Valentines Banquet. The invitation has gone out to all within our fellowship. Yet there will be those who do not hear. They will miss an evening of joy and fellowship. But more importantly, there are those who still have not heard of the greatest expression of love, the greatest invitation given to mankind. God has sent forth His love, fully expressed by Jesus Christ. Yet there are those who have not heard. What if we told somebody of that great gift and invitation before we celebrate Valentines Day. It would be better news than receiving any paper valentine from any person, ever! Think on it. Blessings! - Pastor Sam Brooks

Amazing Love
By Paul Doherty
I had a request to talk about love, and I ran across this song while downloading music on my new device. I miss singing this song in large groups but I feel this wraps it all up. 1. And can it be that I should gain An interest in the Savior's blood? Died He for me who caused His pain! For me who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! How can it be That Thou, my God, should die for me? Chorus:Amazing love! How can it be That Thou, my God, should die for me! Amazing love! How can it be That Thou, my God, should die for me! 2. He left His Father's throne above, So free, so innite His grace! Emptied Himself of all but love, And bled for Adam's helpless race. 'Tis mercy all, immense and free, For O my God, it found out me! 3. Long my imprisoned spirit lay, Fast bound in sin and nature's night; Thine eye diffused a quickening ray; I woke, the dungeon amed with light; My chains fell off, my heart was free, I rose, went forth, and followed Thee. 4. No condemnation now I dread; Jesus, and all in Him, is mine; Alive in Him, my living Head, And clothed in righteousness divine, Bold I approach the eternal throne, And claim the crown, through Christ my own. Amen and Amen

A Passover seder is a service held at home as part of the Passover celebration. It is always observed on the rst night of Passover, and in some homes on the second night as well. Participants use a book called the Haggadah to lead the service. Haggadah means the telling, in Hebrew, and it contains instructions for the seder, blessings and the Passover story.
